Good “value” courses in Phoenix.

Where are the good “value” courses in Phoenix.

I know that there are a lot of great courses in Phoenix but when you have to pay for two, it hurts. My wife and I are going to Phoenix the first week of February and we are looking for some good “value” courses. Last year we played Stone Creek for less than $50 per person and are hoping to find some other courses in that price range. We are staying in the NE Phoenix / Scottscdale area but are willing to drive. Any suggestions would help.

Thanks for your help.

You really just need to be dilligent in looking online and be willing to drive a bit more.
That time of year anything in the $50 range in Scottsdale wont be worth playing , with few exceptions.
1 Vista Verde can usually be found for right around $45-$50 on weekdays,
2: if your willing to walk TPC Champions has a non published walking rate right around $50

Your best bet is some of the outlying courses such as GC of Estrella, Raven at Verrado and Southern Dunes (all about a hour drive) even those are usually going to be over $50
Utilize golfnow.com(especially the hot deals email) and golfhub.com and Ezlinks, wait until the last minute or at least no more than 3 days out to get the best prices.

Even for Valley residents its very hard to play quality courses for $50

Thanks for the info. Been looking at Golfnow and found several but dont know what they are like. Great Eagle, Coyote Lakes, Legend at Arrowhead all look like they would work.

I would agree with everything One Putt stated it's really difficult to play a round in the Phoenix area on a decent Golf course for under $50 this time of year. With that said I would look at playing any of the Phoenix Municipal golf courses like Aguilla or even Cave Creek they keep them in fair condintion and are fun golf courses. I know that some may disagree with me but I also like playing Papago which can be played at right around $50, also you can play right around 1 PM and save some money because that's when the twilight rate will kick in for most valley golf courses. Best of luck and enjoy the weather it's been amazing.

I live in the area and my budget is stricly $50... courses I have been playing include:

Cave Creek
Aguila
Ken McDonald
Vistal (Pretty good layout- just unfortunate they do not overseed fairways! )
Legend at Arrowhead

You can get out on the top 3 for around $35 if you walk... Vistal tends to be $44 (on golfnow), and I managed to get out on Legend at Arrowhead for $40 (on golfhub)

Legend at Arrowhead is a small step above Coyote Lakes, both are decent value golf. Great Eagle is routed through a [s]trailer park [/s] err ...[s]mobile home[/s], err... manufactured home community. Just next door to Great Eagle is a course called Arizona Traditions with a layout I liked, no knowledge of current conditions however.

The absolute best value for high season golf in Phoenix is Vista Verde. Around $50 weekdays. Great course. No amenities.

Some other good value courses in addition to the others mentioned:
Hillcrest, (NW),
Tres Rios, Coldwater, Palm Valley (SW)
Club West, Foothills (SCentral)
San Marcos, Bear Creek, Lone Tree (SE)
