What aspect of the KBS Tour X do you prefer over the DGS x100? The ball flight? Were you looking to raise your ball flight? The spin?

I recently got fitted and ordered a set of I15's with DGS x100. Should be here any day now and am excited to give them a try. The fitting came down to either the DGS x100 or the AWT xstiff with the recommendation for the x100 if I wanted a little lower ball flight, which I am looking for.

My buddy that lives in another state has the same irons with the KBS Tours and said that that shaft was recommended to him over the x100 also to lower his ball flight and that shaft gave him lower spin since he was ballooning the x100. The KBS was one of the shafts that I tried during the fitting and I recall that the fitter said that the launch and spin were too high for me. I was interested in the KBS going in based on what my buddy had mentioned about what was recommended as a result of his fitting.

In the end, got to go with what works best for the individual, but it surpised me that one shaft can result in a lower launch and lower spin for one player and a much different shaft can result in a lower launch and lower spin for another player.

So what do you have to say about all of this "ballooning" talk about KBS?

Robert Garrigus plays KBS and he was the longest hitter on Tour last year. It's all about personal preference, but unless you are putting them in SGI irons and swing you driver over 125 mph, you should be okay.

I would say Dynamic Gold Tour Issue is still the most popular on tour as a guess but KBS has done well. There has always been a significant amount of Project X out there for years.

I would disagree that KBS Tour balloons....I love them and likely would not go back to DG or try Project X.

That being said, they are all quality products.

Remember something....guys were winning tournaments 40 years ago without 9 shaft choices.

Fitted properly, you could lilkely play just as well with all 3.

I will say this though...Dynamic Gold's quality control got so bad they introduced the Tour Issue which is weight sorted more tightly and have better all around tolerances.

Don't do indoor fittings either...they are horsecrap....you have to see the ball flight in real conditions....not on a stupid monitor at Golfsmith or some fitter.
Pros don't get fit inside....why should you?

I've gamed all 3 and currently have KBS tour x flex in my irons. I didn't like the x-100's because they didn't have the feel and responsiveness of KBS or Project X and the ball flight was too low for me. The Project X shafts did have good feel to them, but spun too much and launched to high. DG still reigns on tour, but KBS has gotten a lot of recognition and more guys on tour play them now than in the past for good reason.

Just posted this yesterday, on how the KBS is actually lower then X100 for me... so people should try them before they assume the X100 is the lowest spin shaft, it may be low LAUNCH, but not spin for me.

I agree with this.

Most people seem to believe (or might have experienced) that the DG are low SPIN shaft. It isn't like that for me.... its a low LAUNCH that rises into the air and balloons if your a strong player with a steep swing.

Again, that is what happens if your a stronger, steep, player with high spin already. Most people would suggest to someone with high spin wanting to lower it, to get the X100.

For myself... The KBS,PX will launch higher but with LESS spin giving me a lower APEX in flight.

Some have the total opposite experience it seems.. so get fit !

Do KBS shafts really spin as little as PX though? I think of them as generally having a similar high kickpoint, but with a softer tip(not reinforced) and therefore just slightly higher in both spin and launch. The trade-off being that the KBS feels much better. Is it really that close? Can tipping/hardstepping bring the flight even closer to PX while retaining the feel or do they become just as boardy?

Every individuals swing is different.
For me I get 12 to 15 yards better results with Project x over TTDG and KBS tour. Wanted to love the Kbs tour , but for my swing it was project x all the way.

As we all load and release the shaft to differing degrees others will differ.

My point is go for an outdoor fitting and you will see if the main choices are similiar for you, or if one stands out over the others. A launch monitor is essential to confirm this.

Happy hunting.

I agree with tampay, for me kbs spins less in flight, has lower apex and what really proved it for me is the "land angle" measured by a trackman. I always felt that my px shafts produced ball flights really high that seemed to drop out of the sky, kbs produced pretty high flights as well, but they seemed to go a little farther with a flatter land angle so they didn't just go up and come straight back down---kbs for my $!

Ya wanna see how far we've come with shafts....play 5 holes with hickory.....then you'll see a difference....:)

Most golfers haven't a clue what the difference is...Between kbs....px...dg....they're just pretenders.

Not sure I agree most golfers do not know.

Played the kbs tours and decided to go back to my project x 6.5. So much more accurate for my swing, granted a i lost about 3-5 yards per iron due to height.
