CG16 tour vs AP2

anybody hit both

Hello all, was having a new grip put on a putter tonite and while I was waiting I hit a few shots with the cg16 tour 7 iron. I came away really really impressed. I have a set of ap2's that I also really like. anybody have comparisons? I have the dgs300 shafts in the ap2s and only complaint I have with these are i have a hard time hitting a low shot and the shorter irons tend to ballon.

I noticed the cg16tours are 1 degree stronger will that help. I was hitting the cg16 tour 7 the same as the ap2 6 iron tonite. I said my bag was sent but now I'm not sure...damn you cleveland for having such a stellar lineup this year.

Any help would be appreciated

what shaft in the AP2, If i use any shaft other then dynamic gold I lose distance.

I'd say that the AP2s remain at the top of the heap for irons IMO. Comes down to personal preference but technology and performance wise, I'd argue you will struggle to knock the AP2s down...

I have the DG's in them as stated in original post. I wasn't stating a hypothetical, I have the AP2's and I struggle to knock them down. If you think about where the weight is on these clubs that's no surprise. It has taken a strength of mine (getting out of trouble), and made it a weakness. I never realized how much trajectory control matters until i had these irons.

I have been playing the AP2 for over a year now. i went to Golfsmith to try out the Razr X Tours and found myself hitting the CG 16. I really like the CG's they feel good and I was shocked at how well I hit them. My Ap's are tour issued and I thought nothing could touch them. I was wrong. These CG 16 are probably going to take them out.

i am still amazed by the love the ap2s get from people...
but apparently i am the minority but i thought they were one of the worst irons i had hit in a very long time...i would have almost chose any other iron than these...but i have yet to hit a titleist iron i liked so i may be slightly biased...just felt totally dead and didnt even think they looked good...and for 1000 a set there are numerous options i would have taken instead of them...but like i said apparently i am the minority on this one

id go with the cg16 and save yourself a good bit of coin...and they look really good...havent hit them however

you cannot go wrong with the AP2, they are awesome. the clevelands are nice, but didnt feel as good to me, and were less forgiving
