Name Tag on Golf Bag

Do you have one attached to your bag?

I am in Asia, and I have the opportunity to choose between American Imported Products and Japanese Products.

All the Golf Bags that are produced for the Japanese Market, have a Name Tag (where the shop will print your name) with one side showing the Brand of the Bag and the other ready for laser print. The shop will print the name free of charge. There is also a hook where to attach the Name Tag on the bag.
On the American imported bags there is no tag at all!
I was wondering why this is not used in the USA! Any particular reason why you guys do not want to have your bag personalized with your name on?

I assume it's because most people would rather have a bag tag with thier Country Club name on it, or some other place they play regularly.

 

I don't have a "home club" per se, but I am a USGA memeber, and proudly display my bag tag as such.

Sounds kind of cool, but the shops would then have to have laser engraving in house, and that is not something that would be very cheap.

 

I wish we had it here....but I guess not. There is a BIG difference in the USA and Japanese golf markets. In Japan they will pay a large premium for things that US golfers will not.

Only my bagtag from the 1992 USGA Pub Linx (I was a contestant)...and I had my players badge made into a money clip.....

In actual fact, Japanese imported bags (with name tags included) are not expensive at all (surely less than the American imports) and the shops do not laser-print the names themselves, but send them out to other specialized shops with laser printing facility. It does cost few cents to have the laser printing on the tag.

 

However the question was mostly related to my curiosity on the reason why this option is not given on the American market bags, as I did not believe the explanation that the local supplier gave to me.

I have a bag tag from tpc sawgrass that I purchase when I played there last year. My next bag tag will be from then next "have to play course" that I actually play. IE pinhurst 2, whistling straights, pga west.

I like my USGA tag, though.

They are nice because they display what your accomplishments in golf are, like if you played in a tourney or at a specific course.

Nothing on my bag. I used to have my USGA member bag tag on their but I didn't renew so I took it off.
