I need two must plays in sd

this weekend

im headed to sd this weekend and need two must plays near downtown. Price isnt a huge issue but dont want to overpay either. I was thinking aviara but im hearing mixed reviews. Btw, jve already done the torrey and la costa thing.

There are no must plays anywhere near downtown.
Coronado is nice if you can ever get on but nothing special besides the view.
Journey at pechanga is my number one pick
Just out side the sd county line in temecula. Well worth the drive.
Barona is a close second.
But if you want to stay closer to downtown, play at maderas.

thanks Johnny. Right now, I'm considering Maderas on saturday and either Barona or Aviara on Sunday. Looks like all those courses are within a 45 min drive which works for me.

Have you ever played Aviara?

JMHO, but one of my fav's in all of SoCal and I've played alot of them. There is another poster who said in another thread that he thought Avi wasn't all that. Typical local hater.

I love the layout. Course is outstanding. Best group of par 3's you'll ever find. Especially now that alot of flowers are starting to bloom, the course is probably looking really good right now. It's been years since I played there but always loved my time there.

Aviara is a great course..and it's probably one of the nicest manicured courses I've played as far as off-course maintenance with all of the flowers and so on.
With that being said, I haven't been there since the hyatt took it over, and don't know anyone who has played it since either. So I can't really give any feedback
It kinda lost the appeal with me when it stopped being a four seasons property, but kept the four seasons price.
