I've been looking for the same thing (in SD). Suggestions I have gotten so far include Fairway Golf (indoor), the Grand (see link below), and Carlsbad golfcenter (outdoor, mats I think). Stadium golf also looks interesting.

Please post back your experiences (or PM me). Have you done an iron fitting?

Don't go here....unless you use range balls on the course that is.

I'd either go to the Fujikura lab in Vista, which I believe is only $100 for a driver fitting.......or perhaps Aldila in Poway.......if it was my first time being fitted.

Escondido Golf has experts....may have minimal shaft offerings however.

Fairway Golf off Convoy has a Vector Launch monitor.....again minimal shaft offerings and no "sure fit" systems, so you'll have to swing something close to what you need and then make an educated guess.

Basically you just need to go somewhere with a cage and a Vector Launch Monitor, that will enable you to try a variety of balls.

Man.....if Bill Keppler only had a shop down here:---(

I had a good fitting experience at Stadium Golf with Coleman, $35 for an hour of fitting and they have almost every head and shaft you can think of. They aren't trying to get you to buy anything or any specific brand and they give you an e-mail with detailed results from all the drivers and shaft combos. They use the Ping inflight software and I was impressed.

As for hitting range balls, they do have the best range balls as they rotate them every 90 days. I'm not sure how much of a difference it is to get fit with range balls vs. a Pro V1, etc., but at least it is a constant variable that you can compare between heads and shafts. Ideally we'd get fit with our ball of choice, but then again how many of us only play 1 ball?

If you have an issue using decent quality range balls, you may want to call Stadium Golf and see if you can use your own balls. They may have an optional net that drops down, because I know they also do ball fittings.

That is a good point as you would still get the same launch monitor numbers, but would not get to see the ball flight. For $35, it is worth a try.

I also know we would not want to play with range balls since they are harder, fly shorter, etc., but I wonder how much different the initial conditions are i.e. launch angle and spin rate vs a premium ball?

I did a fitting at Stadium Golf a while back, and I think I used ProV1s. They had a black line drawn on the side for the monitor. I remember thinking how nice it was to hit premium balls at a range. I just assumed that the range pickers or someone pulled out the Prov1s, but I didn't bother to ask how it was done. Can anyone back me up on this, or am I just remembering wrong?

Maybe they don't do that anymore??? I'd suggest contacting Stadium Golf directly to check.

I did my iron fitting at Stadium Golf a while back and I know we used Titleist balls. Coleman had to specifically mark the balls so the launch monitor would pick it up. I thought he did a great job with the fitting and there was no pressure to try/buy one specific brand. He asked me what iron/shaft combos I was interested in and we went from there. I got a print out at the end of the session showing me what irons we tried along with a graphic of the ball dispersion for each club.

Kepler in Walnut Creek is the best golf shop I've had the pleasure to work with!! I do wish they had one down here.

I to am looking for a fitter with the same type of knowledge and professionalism that Keplers offer but have found that many of the shops I've contacted are very limited in what they do/carry.
How about a place that uses tracman to help?

Any updates on quality fitters in Southern California? I'm looking for a putter fitting specifically, however, I'll get the whole bad done eventually. Living in San Clemente I'm kinda halfway between SD and OC so I'm considering either location. Anybody care to chime in on their experience at Stadium Golf Center, Carlsbad Golf Center, or No Bogies Golf? Cool Clubs in Irvine is tempting but they don't do a high tec putter fitting it seems. ADS also looked appealing but seemed like they had limited brands of clubs. Fujikura seemed cool but why get fit into only one brand of shaft?

Priority:
1) Putter
2) Driver
3) Wedges
4) Irons
5) woods/hybrid
