Former great players back stories

Educate me on guys like Jack, Lee, Arnie etc

After watching Feherty's new show tonight and the interview with Lee Trevino, I have to say I am embarrassed that I lack some serious knowledge about former greats. I am 28 and have been so involved with players of the game in my era, that I haven't learnt about many of the games past greats.

I finally read "The Match" a couple of years ago and really enjoyed hearing the back stories of all the main characters. So when learning about how Trevino got involved in the game or hearing about how dedicated a father Jack was, I'm interested in learning more about these guys.

Sadly though I have been too focused on other areas of my life that I haven't bothered filling my knowledge gap. Are there any great books you know of or stories you have about the games greats that I might enjoy learning about?

Ian Oconnor's book on Arnie & Jack
Dodson's Hogan bio, and Jodie Vasquez short, but great book on Hogan.
Anything by Dan Jenkins, he wrote for SI & there is a book of his major tournament writings from 1950's onward.
Golden Grind by Al Barkow.
Herbert Warren Wind's books including Story of American Golf,

HWW wrote for the New Yorker and also SI. The New Yorker requires a subscription, but you can find some at the SI website, here's one I found about the 59 Masters won by Art Wall, looks like the full article is available for free. If you are reading HWW, he wrote great very in depth articles, unlike today's short catchy pieces. He's the best golf writer, though some say Bernard Darwin, nephew of Charles I believe.
