Anybody get their Rapture orders yet?

I pre-ordered a set of irons and a driver 3 weeks ago. I go in to Edwin Watts to pick them up today and they had nothing. They said so far they've only seen a couple of senior flex drivers and a few hybrids. No irons, no fairway woods, no wedges. And had no idea when they'll be getting them in.

 

Anyone else having this problem?

 

I called customer service at Ping to see if there was a hold-up and the guy told me there was no hold up. Yet I went to 3 other shops besides Edwin Watts today and none of them had seen a single Rapture product so far.I asked about the JAS craz e one putter that was also due to come out on the first and he said that it had been "delayed" and could give me no time frame as to when it might now be released. I could have called my mom and gotten as much information about Ping as what this guy gave me.

 

Anyone else having this problem? I do live in Alabama so maybe we're just not on that high of a priority list for Ping shipments.

I got my set of irons on the 1st Sept. Ordered them locally around middle of August. When I checked delivery, I was told they were due to ship on the 15th, so it was quite a surprise when I got the call on the 1st that they were in.

I was told the first sets of irons shipped last week. Today I received my set of irons. Compared to my current 7 iron (g2 with a factory stiff graphite shaft) the comparable Rapture regular flex iron was 5 to 6 yards longer. The ball flight is noticably higher. A buddy at the club also hit them (he plays Eye2s) and had similar, VERY positive, results.

 

Bottom line, this is a must try if you are in the market for new irons. Any G2 or G5 player I think will be pleased with this new offering.

 

Now the price tag...

We contacted our rep and they said the hold up has been that the first batch of shafts did not meet their appearance standards so instead of shipping the low quality clubs they decided just to wait and send the right ones. That is one reason that not many people have them yet or that there are a couple odd set ups out. The irons came in on Wed this week. We are getting 6 stiff drivers and no reg flex on out shipment that is suppose to come monday and they are all on the same PO. So i wouldnt get upset at anyone. Some places may have been the lucky ones to get the very few.

 

I dont think that companies should make a specific release date. Customers dont understand the logistics of getting the products into the stores and if something goes wrong it always comes back to the retail store that gets blamed for it. When it comes to these big new product introductions the POs are set up way in advance so we will have them in the stores as soon as possible. Sometimes they scew up and you have to wait an extra day.

I got my Rapture 18* and the irons are in along with some drivers and fairway woods. I am really thinking of getting the driver I hit it 2 days ago and let me just say. SOLID! It went about the same distance and my X460 but it had the stock shaft not the shaft that I use, so I think that is might go 5-10 yrds farther

Part of the problem is that the release date is when Ping starts shipping to the retailers. It hits the retailers distribution center and then from there it takes a few days to get out to the stores. So depending on your location and the retailer, it could take anywhere from 1-2 weeks to see the new product in the stores.

Most of the shops I've went to had quite a lot of Rapture irons and wedges (18 sets was common---all presold), quite a lot of Rapture hybrids and fairways. They also had quite a number of S58 irons (of which they have only sold 1 set so far----looks like DOA again). They have received a number of Rapture drivers all from Wrx special orders from the fitting van. The only stock drivers they have are Regular blue NVs (6 of those as I recall). There is no appearance problem but there is a significant shaft problem. All of the 909Ds OEM shafts did not meet standards and the NV blue Ss were a problem as well. No guess on when they will ship stock Raptures in S shafts. Plenty of black craz-e one putters. Absolutely no bags of any kind---maybe next week but no promises there either. They also wouldn't comment on the i Wedges whatever that means.

I've had my Rapture 10.5 deg w/ NV Proto S on order since about 8/10 or so......it's not in yet, and the shop (as you might expect) says, "any day now" which is code for "who knows?"

But he didn't really seem to know anything and said nothing about a shaft problem at all. He made it seem as though there wasn't a problem with any of the items.

There is nothing wrong with the putter shafts only the driver shafts. I reviewed the putter last week. Excellent putter from 25 feet and in, rolls the ball great. From 30 feet and out no so good, way too light a putter for distance putts in my few days with it.

I'm going to wait for the irons but I went ahead and purchased a brand new cobra HS 9 X driver today off e-bay for 230$ Figured I'd be an idiot to spend nearly twice as much for a Rapture that may or may not perform as well.

 

I'm a driver whore though, so I may end up with the Rapture someday anyway.

What's wrong with the shafts ?? I know of one place that has an abundance of 10.5, stiff in Ping shaft and reg in VS proto but the 9° in stiff are scarce.

 

This store has almost everything else that you can think of, hybrids, irons (s58 and Rapture), fairways.... Maybe they were better prepared than most ???
