Driver Help...

I am killing my game with my driver right now...

 

My last 5 rounds look like this...

 

73, 75, 71, 73, 74...total of 9 fairways hit out of 70 which gives me a wonderful...12.86%

 

I am hitting my drives VERY...like extremely...high with tones of backspin and it is always going right...even with a 14g weight plus 2 strips of lead tape on the toe and close to the face.

 

Everytime I hit the fairway my ball is backspinning 2-5 feet...but it is still going far (not as far as I was hitting it but still 280+ on every drive (unless into the wind).

 

I have a 8.5* r5 tp with an Accra 75g X-Flex shaft...I was wondering if another head shaft combo...or another shaft combo with the r5 would help me with this problem.

Well first off, having the heavier weight in the toe makes it easier to hit a fade not a draw. If you want a more draw-biased weighting, put the heavier weight in the heel. Second, it's a little hard to judge what the problem is without some kind of video of your swing. Mabye then we can give our diagnosis. :D

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't the lead tape on the TOE going to hold the face open?

Yes the toe weighting should hold the face open creating a fade...but I am hooking the ball even with this weight...

wait, your misses are right, but you are always hooking it? am i the only one lost here????

Same there. Are you hooking it or fading it? How can your scores be that low when you're flaming it in every direction but straight. Aren't there any out of bounds in your course?

im assuming he is a lefty! or he just dosent know what he is saying. and yes that is great scores considering you hit so few fairways! im sure that there are pros who wouldnt be able to shoot those scores with being in the rough all the time. unless the course you play is particularly easy. and for your drives with a 8.5* driver to be "backspinning 2-5 feet", you have serious problems because that kind of stuff just dosent happen

As for the course, it was Kananaskis Country Golf Course usually played from the Blue tees (6573 70.3 rating 126 slope) we didnt have US Open rough the rough is 1-2 inches MAX. You aren't punished for being in the rough at this course, kind of why I would like to fix the problem now that I am home for the fall playing courses with longer rough.

 

As for the driver...that stuff does happen because it happens to me everytime I'm in the fairway.

shift that weight!!!!!!!!!! your weight isn't shifting and your hitting up on it tooo much causing too much spin and the high shot. really finish on that left side.....i mean practically fall over :beach:
