Feedback/Suggestions on H-Town trip

OK....been reading too many negative condition posts on the Tour 18...so we are scrapping that.

 

Get in 10/6 - heading to play Cypresswood right off the plane.

 

10/7 - Woodforest and then Panther Trail

 

10/8 - Redstone

 

Have to play Redstone on Sat because there is outings on Thur and Fri...so gotta play the inflated price, plus apparently need a forecaddie.

 

Seeing has how I don't think I can get on Carlton.......This will have to be the plan.

 

Thoughts?

 

Any can't miss eats anyone?

 

Nightlife?

The Westin Oaks in the Galleria Area.

Are you playing the Traditions course at Cypresswood? If not thats the course i recommend.
I like the other choices. I may add it to my list.

Also, the Galleria is pretty far from all the golf courses that you are playing.

Im playing tour 18 tomorrow. I still love playing there.

Traditions is the plan...gonna make our tee times tonight.

We have nothing but time...so the trip is ok...we are going to do 36 on Fri up at Woodforest and Panther Trail.

We were going to do Tour 18...but heard a few folks mention that it was in the worst shape they had ever seen it....please give a report after you play....Because we have to play Redstone on Sat it is going to cost more than we had initially planned and may bag that course and play Tour 18 if it is in good shape.

Thanks...if you can think of anything we should do, eat, see, etc....let me know.

Have you thought about playing Wildcat or Augusta Pines?
Augusta Pines is probably as good as Redstone. Its a sight to see and also a former Tournament site.

I will give you a report on Tour 18 after i play it tomorrow.

As for what to eat.. well that all depends on what you like.. Houston has so many great places to go to, and being in the Galleria area, they are not too far away either.. You'll be really close to Uptown Park.. There are many good places there to eat, and drink.
Google Uptown Park Houston... that should give you the info you are interested in.. Plus it's super close to where you will be.

Sorry but Tour 18 looked pretty beat up today. The lake is almost dried up and the fairways were pretty brown and a few tee boxes were being replaced.
I think i saw a greenskeeper on almost every hole working.

I hope the grass comes back ok. I guess it got really torn up by the heatwave this summer.

Depends on what you want to eat... If your staying by the Galleria and want steaks, Del Frisco's is solid, even though it is a chain. Goode Co. for good bbq/brisket..

Crossed Tour 18 off the list....So we have a decision on Sat...Redstone, Augusta Pines or go watch the Senior Event at the Woodlands!!! UGH....decisions decisions!

Redstone TC always in good shape, very good from the second shot in. I'm not a fan of some of the tee shot layouts. Classy setup & nice experience. Taylor Made Performance Lab.

Augusta Pines shorter, traditional, back-to-front sloping greens. Fairly close to TPC Woodlands event.

Watching others play ..... I can do it for about 30 minutes before I get the itch to hit.

You've picked 4 of the best courses in the area. Be prepared for a little drive since you are staying on the other side of town from where you are playing. You might also check out Blackhorse if you want something a little closer to your hotel.

Enjoy your stay. The weather has been perfect the past few days.
