54 yrs old 8hcp. 95-98 mph on driver, im playing cally edge graph reg shaft irons and try to play straight ball to baby draw. i am hitting more left now than ever (many lessons, coming from inside better than i ever have) soooooo looking at new irons for coming year, always played cally and friends are pushing me towards titleist. what diff. should i expect (7iron about 160yds) any other ideas

PS. i like some forgiveness in my golf clubs and women, lol thx.

Titlist isn't good. Go ping I20's or the jpx800's. Great irons, a whole lot beter than titleist.

cant speak to the mizzys but my ap1's are more forgiving than the i15's in my opinion.

What are u basing that titleist isn't good on? Such a great argument there

To the op I own ap1 and mizuno mp 53's. With your handicap where do u tend to struggle with your iron play? That would help with more advice.

seem to hit irons very high and sometimes to far (graphite shafts?) thats why im looking to change equip. maybe steel shaft, but where do i start i havnt hit steel in many yrs.looking for more consistancy with some forgivness. 95-8 mph driver ss, 7 iron 155-8 yds, small divot misses go slightly rt.

In my experence, The ap1s are good, but considered garbage versus some of the other offerings. If the current ap1's were released 3-4 years ago, they would be a world beater. The fact of the matter is that their are so many good GI irons now that looking at only one is a moronic decision. Test them head-to-head on a non-hot LM. That's what I did, and my finalists were the mizuno jpx800 and the i20's. Those were my results but i am biased as i consider most-all non wood titleist stuff to be garbage. I might like ping, mizuno or TMAG, and tell you to go get the iron, but it not fit you. The absolute bottom line is that you need to try EVERYTHING specked out perfectly to you to see what the real winner is.

thanks for your opinion on the titleist they just seem to be used alot by single diget golfers at my club, like i said i've used callaway graphite for years and am looking to change (maybe just for change sake) of course i would get fit, i have not paid much attention to any other brands. why is the i20 or jpx800 better than something else, is their tech. that much better?

Titleist irons are so overrated it's not even funny. woods, now thats different. The real diference is that the two irons i mentioned are more forgiving, and have generaly higher performance. the ap1's are not near as forgiving as their counterparts. Just because you see someone using something means its good. My dad played in the us am 5 times and went through qualifying to get there. My dad used eye2s. use the iron that performs the best, not the one with the best known name.

Example: I know a kid that had a bunch of trouble with his ap1/ap2 combo kit.He hit on avrage 4-8 greens out of 14. He went to the pro and the pro told him that he needed to get refit. He got fit for some vr_s forged irons and he says that they are great.I belive him, as he hit 13 greens yesterday. I mean, If the ap1's preform the best, power to you for using them. I just haven't seen that, and the junior scene and am here is obsessed with titleist. You need what works for you. not what someone else has

my spin, launch, carry, and ball speed were all better with ap1's over the jpx's.

you seem pretty quick to label these irons as garbage but they just work for some

lmao I absolutley loved every single set of ap1 irons i've owned, their money. Labeled as garbage???? Please there not a club out thier from the OEM that are garbage there all good in different ways. Theres only so many ways a iron can be designed so if your calling titliest garbage your calling them all garbage including the ones you play.

I love my ap1's forgiving, striaght shooters, long.......its not the arrow chief its the indian
