Pasatiempo...worth the hype and cost?

I live about 20 minutes away from Pasa, and with the $125 Golfnow time and Saturday being my B-day, I decided now was the time to give it a shot. The course is beutifull, the views from the 1st tee and McKenzie's are unreal. I thought the course layout was awesome, with so many well designed holes, it just felt like a classic golf course (which it is of course). The day was amazing, clear skies, 70's...etc. I do have some (minor) complaints. There is a reason why they are charging $125. With the unseasonably warm weather, a lot of NorCal courses have been battleing some sort of fungus thing that kills the greens and fairways. Pasa is no exception, and their website even has a maintenence blog that goes into depth on the subject (something about their not being enough moisture at night for the greens to grow fast enough to kill off this pest). Certain greens and fairways definintely were "chewed up" and not what you would expect from a course of Pasa's caliber. My buddy made the remark on the first green "well this isn't like the practice greens" and he was right. Some rolled better than others, some fairways were better. Overall the conditions weren't bad, even pretty good considering what they were dealing with. If you want to play it for perfect conditions...wait, if you want to play it for the experience, the history & price then jump all over it right now. (they also had some qualifyer in the morning that cause the round to run about 5 hours, not a bad place to spend 5 hours though).

Make it out to play once maybe twice a year and I love Pasatiempo! A true players course with a ton of history. Bayonet is a great course for difficulty and value, and yes the Club Pro National Championship is there.
