Hey folks, my local range turned me onto this site, and I'm lovin' it! I belong to Katke-Cousins Golf Course at Oakland University and live about 4 miles from there. Tons of great courses in my area. If anyone's in the area, you're more than welcom to come out (although it will probably be next year!!)

Hello,

I am from Grosse Ile, but relocated to the East Coast (Metro Philly). There are tons of great courses to play in Michigan, not to mention the price tags are not bad either.

I have never played the Katke-Cousins Golf Course, but told it was very good. I did however play the new course Sharf I think its called. What a course.

The whole Oakland Univ. golf deal is the best I have ever seen. Two great courses and very reasonable, especially when you look at the rates of private clubs in that high rent district.

I know, I hope the word DOESN'T get around! I joined with the basic membership and don't have the ability to play the Sharf. But that's OK, since the idea was to pay LESS for golf, not more! I can walk 18 at Katke for $28 on the weekdays after work.

Hey Larry, Tried out for there golf team back in 1990. Just tell everyone about number 9 from the tips into a headwind. LOL 680 yards easy into the wind. I would love to get out. THey also have one of the greatest short game practice areas in the state!!

Welcome Larry, several Michiganders here.

We are neighbors, i am in Shelby Twp. There was a welcome all michigan golfers thread that had a long list of all of us, but i am not able to find it right now. My next door neighbor is a member at OU , i have had a chance to play both courses and i like them a lot.

I go to school in Milwaukee, but my family lives in Grosse Pointe, and I have had the opportunity to play both Katke and Scharf on numerous occasions, both are excellent golf courses, and as Scotty B mentioned, the short game facility is top notch.

I haven't been able to play the Sharf yet, as I bought the cheapo membership.

The short game area is AMAZING. I didn't even know it existed until I joined and saw it tucked over there. I've spent many hours around those three greens, and met a few fellow serious golfers there as well.

From the tips #9 is hard enough WITHOUT the wind. My only complaint about the tips is #7, as the tee box is back in the trees and they just can't grow grass back there.

Good news for '07 is that they're having the same deal as last year.
