Nunchuk Shaft

tour use?

Been reading a lot about this shaft. It seems to be the real deal. BUT, i don't see anyone on tour using this shaft. (J. Vegas dropped it earlier this year) Why is this?

I guess it's all down to the shaft profile. As the name suggests, it's a shaft with a stiff butt and tip section joined together by a more flexible mid-section - like a nunchuk. It's probably a difficult shaft for pros to get a decent amount of control and feel with, because of the flexible mid section. Most pros will probably prefer a flatter ball flight provided by the usual stiff tip high bend point design. That's my guess anyway....

I thought I read that the RIP Phenom was a similar profile. Maybe they just did it better than the 'chuk?

There are many popular shafts with the stiffer butt/tip and softer mid section profile (Phenom, BB/Kaili, AD-DI, PX, etc). The Nunchuck is nothing special, just an extremely stiff (over 300 cpm) and heavy (104g) counter balanced shaft.

It's magic in fairways and hit or miss in the driver from my experience. My shop is near the good people at Nventix so we've been working with "the chuk" for a few years through its development.
Don't always assume what a tour pro bags will be right for you, or that it's an indication that the shaft/ball/wedge/driver/whatever is the best thing in the world. There are many players working with it in fairways and the new .370 hybrid. It takes something truly special to take a trusted 3 wood out of a players hands and the Nunchuk is doing that for a few guys every month.

So the PX shafts are butt stiff and tip stiff with give in the mid section. Lots of tour use. Maybe look there.

Not sure whose using Nunchuk on tour. Johnny Vegas was, maybe still is.

Elkington had one in a hybrid as well.

The shaft companies work pretty aggressively to get tour players to put their shafts into play, some do a better job of others, some shafts are such game changers (speeder 757) that everybody puts it in play. There are a lot of shafts out there with similar characteristics to the nunchuk like others have said, and there are a lot of shafts that perform really really well.

I believe Furyk has one in his hybrid, as does Snedeker if I'm not mistaken
