In my experience acetone will not hurt the black finish on the Scotty. I changed out all the paint on mine and the black still looks like it did before I started. For transparent you are going to need to look up the Tamiya paints in the clear version. I am not sure about the colors you are looking for, but it would be a place to start. I have only used the clear orange they have and it works well on silver not so much on the black oxide.

Sorry for bumping this thread. Do people have any advice on removing the weights? I've got a wrench but am completely unable to remove them (tried locking them in a vice but still didnt work.)

Great idea swapping out the velcro the magnets! I have been thinking about doing the same thing with some of the old Ping black leather WRX covers, but just haven't had the free time...

A bit surprising that more of the higher end covers aren't magnetic already - some of the velcro out there is like sand paper and really scratches up the putter heads...

Nice work on the putter too!

Sorry bump again with a couple of questions:

1) I assume you then proceeded to twist to remove the weights?
2) I have some scratches on the black finsh of the putter, is there any way to DIY fix it (buff it out sort of thing)?
