Left Handed Golfer - Feedback & Drill Recommendations

I’ve been playing golf seriously the last two years. I was a lot better in High School around 8 -10 handicap.

 

I mostly play 9 holes after work. I typically shoot around 45. My best round this year for 9 was a 39 my worst round was a 55.

 

My biggest issues I believe are my swing plan, posture, and thought process of the golf swing. I also noticed in my videos I think I’m standing to close to the ball and right at impact it looks like I’m almost standing up.

 

When I’m out on the driving range my first 10 to 15 shots are usually really good. As I continue to hit balls my swing plane and bad habits come out in full force. I will typically pull two or three shots a round out of bounds.

 

I typically slice my driver off the tee box.

 

What I’m looking for is a couple drills I can use to work on swing plan and my wrist hinge. Any constructive feedback would great.

 

I’m 6ft 6inch – using Ping G10s Orange Dot with oversized grips because of my large hands.

Taking the driver over the top with a little outside to in path. You are flicker your hands at the ball late to try and square the face up. Thats why the hooks are the swing plain was good but the hands were still flicking. When you slice it is because you were over the top and outside to in path and you did not flick your hands to get the club face square to offset the swing path.

try practicing with a small bucket/water bottle placed directly behind the ball in a staight line around 3/4 club length away . Take the club inside this on you back swing and ensure you follow that path back to the ball. This will stop the over the top swing and the outside to inside path. Also you could try and small pice of wood and place just outside the club head at address and hit balls without hitting the wood. It will feel like you are taking your left arm in the back swing more towards the centre of your back in the take away. Kinda like putting both your hands in your back left pocket.

Your planes looks fine until you start your downswing... where you get outside it because you are over the top.

You can remedy this easily with targeted practice.

The feeling I suggest is being conscious of the top of your swing, and then making sure that you are driving your body starting from your legs to start the downswing.

Getting this sequence right will get you coming form inside and greatly increase your consistency.

You will also find that the golf swing feels a lot more effortless this way... hard to describe but when you have gained the skill to drive the ball with your body instead of hit it with your arms, you will be able to feel the difference quite clearly.

i can almost guarantee you that orange dots will be way to flat for someone with your size...especially with an over the top move.
