Bethpage information

I haven't played it recently but my friends have and I've been told that The Green course is OK again. Therefore, all the courses are playble now.

I had two weeks off the 1st two weeks of June and played all the courses including Green twice (which was designated the walk up for the months). I though it was in great shape. Red is still my favorite and I need a few days to recover from Black physically and mentally (more of a bruised ego). I know they started to build out for the Barclay's in August.

Does anyone know what date the Black course is closing to the public prior to the Barclays?

The black is closing this coming Sunday 7/22/12 until after the Barclays. Evidently they're holding the NYS open there the following week...
Hmmm, seems I spoke too soon... Anyway, I was told by someone I play with that the black will be closed after this Sunday because of another tournament that's being held there ( He said "the NYS Open"...) I looked, but can't find any info on it...Take it with a grain of salt if you want, but he claimed that he was told that by the people at Bethpage (he booked sat 7/21).

The NYS Open is 7/17. Did you read the link in post #5?

No, I didn't read the link...for some reason my computer is super slow on this site - lots of pop ups/page refresh etc... In any case, My buddy booked this Saturday and when he did he was told that The Black course would be closed after Sunday 7/22...

According to Newsday [the link], The Black is closing to the public on August 6th. It might have changed since the article was published though. BTW, the front putting green by The Red has been closed for a couple of weeks now. Also, there is a new fence surrounding it.

If you can't get on The Black, you'll enjoy The Red. Almost forgot, you HAVE to walk The Black - no riding carts allowed. Yes to riding carts on The Red.

I'm pretty sure it's the third week in August. It should be all over the Net.

August 21 to 26. I was just being lazy and figured one of you guys might know off the top of your head. It'll defiitely make an intersting tournament.

Bethpage Black is now closed to all. The rest of the courses close 8/18 and re-open 8/30.

It's not a big deal but the commercial that The Golf Channel is showing regarding the upcoming Barclays FEDEX at Bethpage Black is sorta misleading. The clubhouse that they show at the end of the announcement is not Bethpage. I don't know where it comes from but it's not Bethpage.

Not sure if this matters to anyone, would call Bethpage office to confirm. This is what they did when the US Open was there in 2009. The 1st hole on Green is shortened (turned into a 100 yard par 3). 1st hole on yellow is either closed or shortened (can't recall). The yellow turns into the range for the pros to warm up.

Again, would call to confirm.

False it is part of the club house.............its a fly by of the rear of it where the catering and weddings take place.

Someone told me that The Blue Course was being aerated right after The Barclays.

Anybody else go to the Barclays? It was my first time seeing a pro tournament - pretty cool! We got there super early so we could park by the Farmingdale train station for free - this worked out really well, as there were a bunch of folks in the immediate area charging to park in their lots ( $20/day). We parked right along the street in front of the tracks and walked down to the train station for the shuttle bus to the tournament (bus left almost immediately after boarding). We were able to get some food in the clubhouse at around 7am and the first golfer (Sung yul Noh) tee'd off at 7:50. We wound up following Freddy Jacobsen and Blake Adams for most of their round - on several tee boxes we were the only "fans" out there. This was the best part of the tournament imo. We went back to the clubhouse for lunch and afterwards followed a few of the marquis groups - what a nightmare! Not only was it nearly impossible to see any of the real action but you also have to listen to all the "get in the hole" idiots!!! The absolute highlight of the entire day was when Harris English holed out for eagle at the 15th - we just happened to be standing about 40 feet away so we got a great view of it. In any case, we wound up doing close to two entire loops around the course - my feet were hurting for sure...

I just learned today that the PGA is coming to Bethpage in 2019 and The Ryder Cup most probably will be coming to Bethpage in 2024. Barclays returns in 2016.

Red is pretty much always in good shape. Blue was recently aerated but is supposed to be OK now. #10 fairway [temp. as a par-3 right now] and 18 green on Yellow got beaten up because of The Barclays.

Pay attention to the aeration schedule.
