You should figure on about 4 weeks in dry weather but Bethpage is doing it right. They're using the correct hole [aeration] maker. Plus with all the rain we've been getting, it's going faster. The Blue was recently done. I played it yesterday and it was fine,

Call 1-516-249-0707 and listen to the message about when The Black was aerated. Honestly, I forget. If it was just done this week, you'd be better off waiting at least a couple of weeks before you play it.

Any updates on the conditions of the greens at Bethpage Black? I wanted to play there either this Thursday or next Thursday. I was kind of leaning towards this Thursday because the forecast is good, but I rather wait if the greens are not so good. I feel like if I'm playing the Black for the first time this season(and probably last) I should wait for the conditions to be as good as possible.

Any feedback on the conditions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Some friends of mine played it last week right after aeration. They said it was the worst conditions they've seen and we all play there multiple times a season. I offered, "need a couple of weeks?" and one guy said, "more like five."

Take that for what it's worth but having played it a week after the Barclays, I am not surprised. The greens were not in good shape at all then and I can see why they moved the aeration up 3 weeks (originally planned to aerate 10/11-13).

Edit: all in reference to the Black.

as I posted on another thread..I played Red on 9/21 and the greens weren't aerated yet, they rolled great though, but there were a lot of ball/pitch marks on the greens, most likely because of all the play there after the barclays.

Although during my round, I saw a machine punching some teeboxes and such from another course.
