I agree, Big Run would be great. If it is okay with Frank, could we add some fun to it? Like a Ryder Cup format? I know I have another post just like it but I would like to know what you guys think?

Big Run is an awesome layout. It is not a typical midwest course. It is very hilly. I don't think it has a range, but Cog is close by/

Harborside would be a good option. It has an awesome practice facility. Two great courses.

Hey Frank, look up Bonvivant in Manteno, it has 2 courses, one is 7600 yards and the other is around 67-6800 yards, its very cheap, $35 cart included(last time i played it) and its VERY nice and challenging(but then again a par 3 course is challenging to me) we could do 36 on that site alone!

Bon Vivant is one heck of a course! I only played it once this year, and it was a struggle... I remember there was a foursome in front of us who never played the course. They tried to play from the black tees, but thankfully the starter told them that unless they want to be hitting driver on couple par-3s, they shold move up ;) They listened....

They tried to play from the black tees, but thankfully the starter told them that unless they want to be hitting driver on couple par-3s, they shold move up ;) They listened....

Is the course still $35.00? Haven't played there in a year. I concour that it is one heck of a course and can't wait until it's fully grown in! I heard that they may have some tourny there, great challenge! Would also like to throw in The Glen Club in Glenview, it used to be the old navy or air force base. A little pricey but they have a Nationwide tour stop there.

It's still $35 weekdays - $45 weekend/holidays.

Speaking of Cog - I'm also not the biggest fan of that place. I do like their practice facilities, but it's hardly a good value. We played there yesterday (#2 course) - $46 to walk in December! I had a round of my life going until I 3-putted 17th and 4-putted 18th and ended up with 80 ;)

 

Another course to consider would be Mistwood...

How about Big Run in Lockport? I live less than a mile from it... 7000 yards from the tips, 74.4, 142 ;)

 

 

I'd love to come down from Cheese Land to play Big Run. Played it a couple times last year and it is insane. The 9th hole is just a monster. Very underrated course!

Yeah, I like mistwood, I had a round of my life going there(-1 through 4-5 holes) but putting screwed me. It is $54(for mistwood) with cart and range balls are 5 for a small bag and 10 for a large bag last time I played it. they have great staff too.

Please do BonVivant...ive played there many times and from the championship tees shes a challenge. Always an awesome price and the new clubhouse is sick.

The Glen ive played once and yes it is amazing. Its also very close to me so if we played there I'd be 100% in for sure. Thats once of the best courses in Illinois id wager.

Count me in Frank. This time I will make it, but please, no Dubs! You know I think it is the most over-rated course of all time. How about a "road trip" to Weaver Ridge" or TPC of Deere Run?

Joel, I love both of these courses. Definitely awesome choices! It is going to be tough choosing a course. It may come down to availability. Weaver Ridge is absolutely breathtaking. TPC is very hilly, beautiful and in mint condition.

If you live in the area I can get you on Olympia anytime, just shoot me a pm. For the event, we wi;; play on a Saturday and I will reserve Sunday for Olympia for out of towners. The point is for those making the effort to travel a far distance, they have the opportunity to play Olympia.

I'd say great choices include dubsdread, glen club, harborside, and chick evans park reserve course (well maybe not the last one but any of the first three would definately be very memorable!
