Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but just got off the phone with Callaway and they said they are not coming to retail here....Japan only. Maybe our new members could elaborate?
Ouch! That is terrible news. I was REALLY hoping these would retail in the US. I would jump on the #9 HT is a second!

Odyssey seems to make so many good putters for tour the finishes and inserts are perfect. The retail offerings suck.

That is a downer I was def planning on pulling the trigger as long as it was $300 or less. Odyssey is the best in the business when it comes to inserts.

Great looking putters. They released them about 6 mos ago in Japan for 500$. Still made in China. Says so on their Japanese website. 500$ for a made in China putter? Are you kidding me. I can bet that the one Phil is playing was made right here in Carlsbad. Again, in order to maximize profit, they make the off the shelf stuff in China with no QC for the avergage guy and the pro gets the stuff that we should be getting. I noticed that the RAZR FIT head is made in China, shaft in China and assembled in Mexico. Way to keep the American jobs going Callaway. It is bad enough that all of the stuff is being made in China with less quality. Now to save a few more dollars, you are going to assemble them in Mexico. How many American jobs did you guys flush down the drain by moving assembly to Mexico. I hope everyone who reads this , understands that even are golf companies are screwing us out of American jobs. Send it offshore. I am at least going to find a company who assembles there stuff in the U.S. There are not many out there. Too bad.
Ping Anser's are made in China. The Taylor Made Kia Ma's and the stuff the guys are using on Tour are made in China. I don't think too many would point to a lack of quality with those. Callaway is a worldwide company. They sell products in China, Mexico, and all over the world. Chinese quality has made an enormous amount of improvement over the past 10 years which is why companies are using those foundries more and more...even for forgings. Maybe if our country made it more affordable to do business in our own country, we wouldn't see as many things outsourced. Manufacturing regulations in the US are absurd. FWIW Ping still assembles most of their stuff in the US - even though it's mostly made in China. Custom guys like KZG, Miura, Wishon, etc is all assembled locally. True Temper shafts are made in the USA. Pure grips (which are outstanding) are made in the USA. Free Enterprise is a wonderful thing, we just need to start practicing it better here in the US.

Hopefully Callaway's new CEO will wise up and release these. The ProType "Black"??? Wow. Come on. Something like this that actually incorporates some technology (adjustable weighting and the insert) would be a welcome site from Odyssey. Anyone that's going to shell out $300 bones for a milled piece of steel is going to make sure it says Ping or Cameron on it. I would drop good coin for one of these now. Not $500 bucks though.

What a horrible mistake Odyssey is making by not releasing these putters to the USA. However, we must realize something about Japanese culture. They will pay 3 to 4 times more for something, as long as its exclusive to Japan, and aesthetically looks different. This goes for shampoo, beauty products, food and many other peripheral luxury items that companies produce. A holograph on a can of pop, or differently shaped shampoo bottle. $24, and 4 ounces less than what we offer in America. Maybe this is smart on Odysseys part, except, I cant imagine it's a huge money making decision because Japan is only so big.

as with many companies there are many prototype models, however many of the Odysseys used on the various tours are not special.

Performance wise - no. That's up to the individual to make putts. Asthetically wise - yes. They are special and they are sometimes Carbon steel vs stainless steel heads, with darker finishes and such. Sometimes they come with inserts that are not offered with the retail version and they are epoxied in vs VHB tape. Mickelsons putter has different engravings and special names associated with each putter. PM-18, PT 18, White Hot XG Blade.

Odyssey will either have to wait to bring these putters out by maybe a year OR redesign a similar putter and release it at a lower price point.

I have seen Ryo Ishikawa using these line of putters. I believe they are the Japanese Only Odyssey putters. That be great if they released these in the States.

I don't understand the difference between the "new" protype black putters and their older black series that are $99 now at Golfsmith. I love Odyssey but I don't get it?

Gents,

The ProType Black putters pictured will be coming to the US market later next year. The feel and look is amazing.
ProType Black putters are already out in the US; do you mean the ProType iX putters?
Yes. The ix model currently a Japan offering. From what I know, they will be available here in the US in late 2013. I also have a good idea of price, but at this time I'm not at liberty to make it public.

Terrific putter. Excellent look and feel.

They have to delay this release as to not rock the boat in Japan. Price point will be 249.99. I'm 60% sure of that 100% of the time :-)

No, but I'm afraid we won't be seeing these in the USA anytime soon. Odyssey's Japan market is hypersensitive when it comes to exclusivity.

Odyssey did us all a solid. They're here! Check their American website. I just ordered my 9HT for $319!!!

This guy has a handful. 35" are sold out, but he has some 34"'s and some different models.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
