Swing Changes

Let me know what you think. I just started with hogans five lessons this week. I would like to incorporate all of these fundamentals into my swing. Any advise will be appreciated.

Heres one from yesterday. It says 9-3 but it is actually a full swing I just labeled it incorrectly. I am a pretty big guy at 6'3". I wish I could teach, I have enough trouble learning.haha They do have grass in Millington however it is all dormant right now. They actually moved us onto mats this week, which sucks. No thats not elvis it is actually my girlfriend she is just all covered up bc she was cold. Thanks for the comment though.

Love your action. Very, very nice. Can you tell me about the towel drill? What are you working on with that? Did you use it to build your swing or fix a specific problem?

I like the look of the last swing the best, because it looked like you were "cupping it" more through impact, instead of trying to keep your left wrist completely flat after impact. "Cupping it" would be good if your miss is a hook; it would keep the face square a bit longer.

Some might argue that cupping it could lead to a flip, but I don't see that happening with your action. Which is excellent, by the way.

I hope that your attempt to copy Ben Hogan does not get in the way of your scoring on the course, and your enjoyment of playing the game.

Hogan had the classic one plane swing. You have the classic two plane arm position at the top. Start your quest by learning the difference between the two and save some frustration. Jim Hardy's Plane Truth for Golfers is what you want to read (or DVDs)

threejack I use the towel drill to help me stay connected. I have used it at times when I feel that my armswing is out of sync.

Driver swing from yesterday. Gotta tighten up the follow through. Still a little flippy. All in all I am starting to see improvement.

Why do you think it's a one plane swing when Hogan himself describes it as a two plane swing?

 

I understand a one plane as the shaft behind the head is parrallel to the shaft angle at adress even though on 2 different levels. Where a two plane has the shaft somestimes 90 degrees to the earth and no where near the angle it was at address.
