Nothing under 80 gms. What setup are you referring to? If you mean driver setup, I have several like most WRXers. :taunt:

My swing speed is a 115+ with a driver. I had always used a 80 gram driver shaft until a few years ago I went to a light weight 60 gram shaft (Miyazaki Kusala Black 61x) that I liked & used for a while. When I made the change from TM to Callaway this winter I went back to a 80 gram shaft, I'm currently hitting a Callaway FT-5 HCG Tour Hosel shafted with a Aldila VooDoo XVS8 & it's the best combo I've hit since the R7 425 TP. Although I did like the lightweight shaft the heavier shaft gives me a tighter dispersion & the miss hits are much better, I also prefer the boardy feel I get with a heavier shaft. If anything my smash factor has gotten better going back to the heavier shaft as well.

I swing around 112-115. Cleveland Classic 7.5 with Diamana Whiteboard 73x.

The lighter the shaft, the faster you can move it, but the less accurate. Thats why you see guys on tour swinging fast with heavy and short drivers. Bubba plays a short driver, and so does Sergio. I remember hearing somewhere that Jhonattan Vegas plays one of the heaviest drivers to be more accurate, and that if he didn't play such a heavy driver, he would be in the top 5 driving distance. Just not worth it to him as he is more accurate and can still pop it out there consistently over 300 yards, mostly carry.

I swing around 117 and use a Diamana D+ 82g X right now. I used to have my own LM in my basement and I used to test a lot of driver shafts. I have always hit 80+ gram shafts straighter, lower, and farther for the most part. I recently had a fitting for the 913 and found the same thing on the FlightScope, wound up with the D+ 82g. I have liked the Miyazaki Kusala Black 83x, PX 8A4, and RIp in 80g. I actually swing the heavier shafts the same speed. The last guy that did the 913 fitting said he sees guys swing the same speed with any weight shaft once they are north of 115. He thinks guys that swing that fast just have a "speed" not matter what they are swinging due to timing etc.

Always used heavy equipment and I'm around 117-122 with the driver. Grew up playing with men's clubs, so "regular" weighted clubs feel weird. I play a Kiyoshi Black 80 in the Driver, Nunchuck in the FW, Ozik Program 130 X in the Hybrid and Nippon Protos that weigh 140 gram raw in my irons and wedges. Swingweight of woods and hybrids is d7 and irons E-0. My philosophy is, swing the heaviest clubs that you don't see a noticeable drop in club head speed. Easier for me, and probably for most, to stay in rhythm and have a higher smash factor with clubs slightly heavier than they are used to (if they aren't already playing heavy clubs) Hogan, Moe Norman and Jack Nicklaus all played heavy clubs. They hit it ok, by Tour standards....

I swing around 112, and have a short backswing with quite some lag. I'm also a strong person. I've found that heavier shafts increase my SS how ever strange it may sound. In general though, I think short backswing/lag/explosive = heavier and shorter shaft and long back swing/fluid motion/swinger type = lighter shaft. With the SS being the same.

I've actually heard if your on the verge of using a S and X flex that you do the exact oposite of what you just said. With a short quick transition use lighter X and long smooth swing you use heavier S flex shaft.

Sorry, was more worried about spelling errors on my phone than the actual topic....

Im referring to driver shaft weight and swing speed. Then an explanation as to why the heavier shaft.

All of this is stemming from 28 swings I took with the 913 D3. Average swing speed was 119, spin 2429, launch 8.7, head 8.5, shaft stiff.

The club felt light. It kept drawing the ball no matter what setup I used. So Im looking for potentially a stiffer shaft and preferably heavier cuase it just feels better.

I want to hear your guys thoughts...

Thanks! This is the feedback I was looking for!

Was looking at the D3 and its nice to see that they do offer a heavier shaft. Was under the impression it stopped at the +72.

So to correct myself, Im looking at a higher loft (probably 9 or 9.5), possible x shaft, and heavier. Which I believe the D+ 82 isnt an up charge with titleist?

The 82gX would fit much better if you are swinging at 119. S would be way too soft for you. I would also look for a higher launch, closer to 11 at least, so at least a 9.5 maybe 10.5 head even. The 82g is sweet looking too, it is a blue almost purple color and looks SICK. I love mine. There is no upcharge for the 82 by the way.

Anywhere between 115-126 swingspeed depending how hard I want to step into it.

I've played everything from 132g graphite (Loomis Tour) to as light as 69g (PX-6A4) but tend to stay in the 75-85g range today.

My favorite shafts recently:
Project X-8A4
Aldila ProtoPYPE 80-X/VooDoo XPP8
Diamana Whiteboard 83-X/Ahina 80-X

Mizuno ST200G 9° / Aldila Synergy Black Proto 75-TX

TC Callaway X2Hot 5DEEP 18.5° bent to 17° / Fujikura Ventus Black 10x

Callaway X-Forged UT 21° / Fujikura Ventus Black 10-TX

Callaway X-Forged UT 25° / Nippon Super Peening Blue X hs1x

Raw Mizuno MP-32 6-PW / Nippon Super Peening Blue X hs1x

I swing anywhere between 109-113 depending on how much I'm stepping on it, and the best shaft for me that I've found is the Graphite Design Tour AD DI 7x. I play it in a 9.5* Razr Fit head. At 76 grams, with my driver playing 44.75 I believe it gives me the best of both worlds a heavy enough static weight to really be able to groove my tempo, while being light enough to not effect swing speed at all. My backswing goes all the way to parallel smoothly with a medium transition and a steady increase in speed to impact.
Driver: Razr Fit 9.5* with AD DI 7x
Launch: 10.6* average
Spin: 23000-2500

Kinda what I thought. Lot's of good comments here already, but in a nut shell, those of us that prefer heavy shafts tend to FEEL like we have more control with them.

115 - 119

80ish has always worked best for me. Right now I have a Kuro Kage Silver 80x but about to try an AXE T7+.
