What is so special about an 009 putter anyway?

Yeah as tpariff said carbon steel and they usually leave it at that. However there have a few 009's made out of GSS..... Probably even less than 5.

Cameron 009's are special because the people that own this particular putters thinks its special and really appreciate the work of Scotty. If you think an 009 is the same as a $25 Anser then get an Anser and be happy with it. In the end, its what you want and what is special to you. JAT

So I let this thread go on without any comment for a while just to see what people might say.

 

I have no problem with anyone spending any amount on a club they want to - putters, driver, even a PW. I am more informed than before - I mostly wanted to know why a 009 is worth so much more than a TOUR Newport which I always thought was the same putter, or nearly exactly the same. I guess they are slightly different. Tiger plays the chunker Newport2 shape, with a few small changes that he prefers, no?

 

Anyway, I love to hate Camerons as I said before and have played one for several years. Just today I received my new gamer - a tour putter yes and I'll post some pictures and facts on it sometime this weekend. I'm so frigging excited to play it this weekend I can hardly contain myself!! (Yes, I play my stuff, and if I ever got an 009 or Tigers actual putter in my hands, I'd put it into play the day it arrived).
