Boston in May/June - Any worthwhile golf nearby?

Heading up to Boston in May/June for my bachelor party weekend & looking to incorporate some golf for those of us who play. Any recommendations for good courses that are in the Boston area?

Lots of good courses. Are you in Boston itself, or in the suburbs? If the latter, please specify north, west or south - then we can give you some recommendations accordingly.

Best two options that I'm aware of are below. I haven't played either of them, but know them by reputation. Hopefully others can chime in too.

How far are you willing to travel? Specifically, what's your daily time schedule? Everything in New England is measured in driving time and not mile.

This is the truth! I have played many of the courses in and around Boston as well as south of Boston. Granite Links is pretty good but can be pricy, it's very different from most of the courses around here. I would recommend it to an out-of-towner visiting Boston because of the city views on a clear day. Their website tells it all. Many of the better public courses are 30-50 minutes outside of the city where the land gets cheaper.

Ummm, I'd say we'd like to keep it an hour or less I guess. We're already driving a few hours to Boston so we're not gonna wanna really travel a lot more once getting there.

Ok... coming from where? Can you stop at the course on the way and then finish in Boston? Or is your presence requested in Boston before venturing out?

There are a LOT of great courses coming through CT, RI or MA that I'd pick before having to 'settle' for a course in/near Boston proper. But data is lacking as for your origination to be able to suggest.

Coming up from NY, just outside the City. So yea, it'd be a possibility to stop along the way if it's worth it.

South Shore Country Club in Hingham is very nice for a municipal course. I think Granite Links is overrated, especially for the price. Hingham is just south of Boston.

Well shoot. OK. Where to start?

Fox Hopyard in CT.
Meadow Brook in Southern RI.
Newport National in RI.
Lake of Isles, North. Foxwoods. CT. (This is a polarizing choice, some like it some don't)

I also like Blackstone National and CT National (which both are easily accessable near 84/395/Ma pike).

If you are coming in on 90, I would go north on 495 and play either Red tail or The International (Oaks). In my view, Red Tail is a better layout but the Int'l will probably be in better shape.
