years ago when I worked for Nevada Bobs, the owner was a member there, very cool old school traditional layout in fantastic shape. Only real downside is there is not much of a family atmosphere there as they are/were also very old school in that area

Isn't that where the Phoenix Open was played before moving to the TPC?

Yeah i got that vibe in the 10 minute conversation I had with the Sales lady. It's not unreasonably over priced but her tone and attitude kind of threw me off. Maybe it's because i'm so young but who knows. I don't think I will be joining there but they aren't completely out yet.

Never played it but walked it a few times attending the PHX Open before it moved to the TPC.

Seemed a typical parkland style course on flat property, compact and self contained routing. Trees, ponds... Some pretty nice real estate around the perimeter. One of the oldest courses/clubs in town.

I had always understood it was traditionally the home to most of the business and gov't elite, the Goldwaters, Colangelo's etc. Mucky Mucks if you will. I think you would fit in there just fine Blake.

They were in the news a couple of years ago when some members were suing because the men's facilities were much better than the women's.

Maybe not as close as PCC but I've heard the Arizona Country Club is reasonable and family friendly. Course might not be big enough for a bomber like you though.

How much money do you have blake? Big dollars.

I have played Arizona Country CLub a bunch as my Grandfather and other family in law are all members there. I have no idea what initiation fees are there now, but they were around 50k a few years ago I believe (could be wrong)

As I texted you, my opinion was the same as Jay's. I've had a lot of relatives, and still have a couple, who are members. It's definitely older money and a little stuffy, but nice course and incredible locker room, restaurant, and newly renovated clubhouse. My business is in a networking group that meets there every Thursday.

Arizona is a great choice. I have a friend who belongs there and it's definitely a little less stuffy and does show some younger membership/families. Pretty cool course...I used to play in the Willie Low Invitational there as a junior. Nothing like a bagpiper walking out from the fog to kick off a golf tourny!

Have you looked at Moon Valley? A couple guys I played with at the Pro Scratch Skins game 2 weeks ago were members there. They had to have been in their late 20s, and said the course is actually in good shape. I grew up as a kid member there, walking the course almost daily. Havent played it in the last couple of years since the major water cost issues caught up with them as membership declined, but apparently they are keeping it up. It was always a nice mix of young and older members, with a ton of families and swim team activity from schools all around. Yes, the remodel of the course is a little funky, especially 18green, but it's still a fun track.

edit* .....and you cant beat the Moonwalk 18hole pitch and putt course at MV when it's in good shape. Talk about dialing in your wedge game, that place was a blast to walk and bet with some buds.

Phoenix CC isn't that expensive for a junior membership. Its 5k initiation and $400 a month. But I think you guys are right about the snooty attitudes there. I don't think that is my type of crowd hahah. I'm a lost puppy with no home. With summer coming up I won't be doing this until October/November of next year. In the summer time in AZ I can play some extremely nice courses for $400 a month.

I forgot you would be young enough for a junior membership....I miss those days.

That price seems pretty high IMO, especially for a jr membership.

How's the initiation fee to be paid? Is it a flat fee? Divided into monthly dues? Do you have to sign a contract? Hiw many members are there?

There's lots of awesome things about being a member of a private club, but, and this was the case for me, it just didnt make financial sense out here with how much the rates drop down in the summer time.

$400/month in the winter time doesn't go far if you're playing high end tracks with $100+greens fees, and if you hit the range 3 or 4 times a week. But take that $400 in the summer time and it goes pretty far, especially if you think of how many places you can play for $40 or under. You could play the duke 35 times/month in the summer and spend $400 haha.

I think it's a awesome thing if your family will use it as well, you network and rub elbows, get into some good games etc, but none of that is any good if you don't like the other memebers haha
