Moving to Nashville area...looking for a private club

After living in Nashville for the last year, I think your course membership decision should be pretty heavily decided on what part of town you live in. Opry Mills was the best option for me with it being 25 minutes from home and 10 minutes from the office. Good practice facilities and the course is always well kept.

Anyone know if any of these clubs are member-owned and initiation is the purchase of equity? I've been surprised to find out that both The Golf Club and Richland CC are non-equity and none of your initiation fee is returned when you leave the club. I'm used to clubs where you get some percent of the sale price when you leave (e.g., 80%). We'll likely only be in the area a handful of years, so I'd like to avoid throwing money away on a non-refundable initiation if I can help it.

Just came across this thread while doing some research and I'd like to bump it and ask a couple additional questions. I am a young single guy who moved to Nashville about 6 months ago and looking for a club to join. I live in the West End/Bell Meade area and am struggling to find anything within 30 minutes of me that is affordable(i.e. Belle Meade CC). I've done some research on Old Natchez and Temple Hills(only private course in the area I've played) and both seem to be similarly priced. Hillwood is about 5 min from where I live but I haven't been able to find anything about what the initiation fee/monthly dues would be for a junior golf membership. Hell I don't even know if they are taking members right now, and if so what that process looks like, so any information on that would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has any info on any of those three courses, or maybe another

I am getting very tired of McCabe being my only option.

Rebel, I live in the same area as you and I feel your pain about McCabe. That place can be a zoo at times. I'm considering joining Opry Mills but going to hold off until they finish the course remodel in a couple of months. Honestly there's not many other affordable private options within close proximity which is frustrating.

I really like Old Natchez. Haven't played out there this year but my god father is a member and I play out there quite a bit with him. They have knocked a lot of trees down over the years but greens are usually fast. Like the club too.

I have been out to Old Natchez and they overseed their fairways which looks great this time of year when most courses are brown. They have bermuda greens which I am told are rolling quite well. The weather hasn't been good enough lately to play the course yet but have gone out there for brunch and the food was very good. The junior rate is very reasonable too. I have been back and forth on either joining ON or NGAC. I played NGAC and even though so many people speak so highly of it, I wasn't that impressed. Definitely a challenge and will make you a better golfer, the layout just wasn't my favorite. That being said, I am leaning towards ON but of course want to play the course first and make sure I won't be moving more on the north side of nashville in the next few months. Anyone else have an opinion on Old Natchez?

All, figured I'd chime in on this as well. NGAC is a great deal, but like all of you mentioned wasn't impressed with the course shape or greens. Seemed like lots of brown spots and not well maintained. I refuse to buy a membership to the public courses as it is a zoo and membership benefits aren't anything special. I love Hermitage but at 3,799+tax per calendar year, that's a no go from me since the course is always packed. Temple Hills is running a great deal right now. $100 entry fee, and its like $447/mo all included even a cart. I'm just a fan of the practice facility. The course I'm considering is Legends. It's 4000 entry 360/mo (no cart). Gentlemen, feel free to shoot me a pm and maybe we all can join the same place.
