Swing Speed coming down and need some help! X to Stiff v2 to 7m3 Black Tie?

Hello all! I've been on this forum for quite a while and have always tried to read all of the helpful thoughts you share. I'm to the point of needing opinions though, please bear with me and let me know your thoughts!

 

Here's the scoop:

 

The swing: I used to have a driver clubhead speed around 115+ (early 18-23's, I'm now 26 w/ a worsening back). Lately, I'm average 100-108 depending on how loose I am.

 

The weapons in question: Original setup, took me 6 months in 2007 to finally find a driver I bombed and straight, 2007 Burner TP 8.5* w/ 76g X flex Proforce V2.

 

Now: Caved in the face of the 07 Burner TP, would guess from plain overuse and purchased an 09 Burner TP 8.5* head. I put the same shaft in the new head (thanks to a good seller here on WRX!). I hit it about the same, minus 5-10 yards as my back and swing slowed down, I also felt like this head was heavier and I left the club face open way too often.

 

Recently: Purchased a RBZ Tour 9* w/ 7M3 Black Tie X Flex, very, gently used for $200 even from a local here on CL.

 

The story: I cannot hit the RBZ, at all. I leave it 15 yards open consistently and simply cannot get around on it, I have resigned to the fact that it's too much shaft or just the wrong fit for my swing.

 

The question: I'm interested in keeping the RBZ tour head and maybe trying a V2 shaft in it but I'd want to purchase a new one as I want to keep my old setup while I tinker. I've been contemplating going down to a stiff flex or going to a lighter shaft but I'm afraid to deviate too far from what I have as I've been hitting a lot of fairways lately. If I could gain some yardage by upgrading to a different or lighter shaft along with the RBZ tour head, I'd be game to try it but I guess I'm a little concerned about killing my game trying to find the perfect fit. If it were you, would you keep the 09 Burner TP setup w/ x flex v2 76g and forget the RBZ Tour regardless of shaft or do you think I could buy the same shaft w/ TM tip and go for it? I'd like to measure twice, cut once so to speak so I'm interested in your opinions!

I'm not really sure if anyone's following but I hit the launch monitor tonight to have a real look at the numbers. I found the X is appropriate for my swing speed and style and by far the black tie offered the best results. Very low spin (1800-2100), 12.5-13 degree launch angle, all good stats. Guess I'll just work on my swing and see what comes. I was actually not surprised by the numbers on the V2, though good it was just out performed. Thanks to Brandon in Seattle Puetz location for the assistance!

Welcome to the aged club, go down a half flex, swing smooth and save your back...
I am 40 now and swing 100 to 105 smooth with a R flex V2, and avg 271 last year low launch with roll.

Why not just go to the gym and get stronger? It is easy. Do some simple exercises. Bench press, shoulder presses, curls and tricep extensions and some deadlifts.

I have a similar swing speed 105-110MPH I use the RBZ Tour 9* with a Motore Speeder 6.2 Tour Spec X and love it great distance, control, and roll out...
