A $50 dollar putter is always tempting, but I will never EVER deal with Golfsmith again ... talk about incompetence in all aspects of business!

 

I can feel your pain and frustration and poor customer service and lack of training is always bad! I just wanted to share a point of view, and did not mean to stir the pot about any vendor.

what the hell is the point of this post?? to bash one of the sponsors?? anyway your comparing apples and oranges.....a tour or limited edition Bettinardi to a production Hogan one. Thats like comparing a Holiday edition or My Girl cameron to a production cameron. THey dont compare. So lets get serious here and think before we post.

dick's sporting goods has the black hogan ones(gun metal finish), for 49.99 new. I was soo tempted, but i couldn't putt good w\

them at all.

Do you honestly think Callaway/Hogan only paid $50 to have Bettinardi make their putters?

 

The $50 putters are not reflective of the craftsmanship and quality. The $50 price is reflective of a marketing mistake.

 

That being said if I could putt with a double bend mallet, I wouldn't think twice of buying the $50 over the more expensive ones unless the dates/events they celebrate are special to me personally.

I agree. RJB does great things for the Armed Forces. I'm in the army. Here's an example of one of his headcovers I have that is near and dear to my heart. For some of us, the Red Dawn putter does hold special meaning.

Relax man. The point of the post is to point our that you get 99%(maybe 100%) of a putter in terms of performance for 1/60th of th cost. I agree that they do not compare in terms of collectability(duh!), but they definatly compare in terms of performance, let alone the price to performance ratio. If you look above at the entire thread, I actually stated that mine was not one of bashing any vendor, actually I happen to like my local GolfSmith very much and spend mucho dinero, anually there for as long as I can remember. But I pespect your point of view, and I guess that was the point...to get points of view from various people. Thanks.

My only intent was to post these wonderful putters (I love them) and make the point that the average joe golfer can have a little piece of something speacial for a very good price. Thats is it. I did not want to turn this into a bashing of anything thread. I think that most people cannot or would not pay $3000 for a putter, but can get one close(in terms of performance, and look) for an affordable price. And for those of us who can afford a $3000 putter, then I maybe showed something new to someone.

 

Actually I am glad that RJB does the speacial armed forces edition putters as my father is a retired US ARMY SGT MAJOR, and is actually over in Iraq as we speak doing armor retrofits to Hummers for General Dynamics (simply a fact).

 

Anyway, my point is I had no intent of malice toward the US Armed Forces, RJB, or anyone else for that matter...but the fact is that the putters in terms of performance are very similiar and I just wanted to hear what people thought on this and any other views they had, which have been made. Thanks for the reply's.

For one he stole pictures that do not belong to him and posted them here without permission. Two he's probably never even owned a Tour putter to even compare it to an OTR but he gave us a review anyway.

The putters are very similar and most golfers won't know the difference. Like any tour putter, weighting and sometimes slight shape differences are there.

 

My reference to RJB and the Military goes far beyond putters. The Bettinardis are very well known in the Military for specialized manufacturing of parts.

Great info. Thanks for sharing. I bet my fathers accounts use some of those parts that are manufatured by RJB.
