New Guy with New Putter, Q's on Paint

Bear with me, I know this is brought up a lot I just want to be sure I don't ruin my new putter by making any mistakes. Just bought a New Scotty Cameron Select Newport 1.5 in black. I have been re-searching about how to Paint-Fill, the techniques, and supplies you need, and have a lot of good information. Just have a few Questions.

 

As I understand you soak the putter-head in Nail Polish remover. Here is where my first question rises. I have seen some that say it should be Acetone Free? Is this true, or does all Nail Polish remover have Acetone, and which one should be used.

 

Second Question: When I soak the putter head in the correct solution what exactly will it remove? Because I like the Black Finish of the head and don't want to ruin it, I would just like to re-color the sight line, which is black, and the Scotty Cameron Logo on the face of the putter.

 

Third Question: Since I only plan on doing the Sight Line, and The Logo on the front, is there are good way to isolate each, or is it better/easier to soak the entire head.

 

 

Any input and suggestions would be appreciated, as this will be my first attempt on paint filling.

I would [b]not [/b]soak the entire head. Get an old tooth brush and brush the Acetone on what you want removed, it may take a couple of applications. A would also have a rag under the areas you do not want as the acetone may run to ares you do not want the paint removed. I do not use nail polish remover as most of it is to weak and will not remove many types of paint but you could try it if you want but I just use straight Acetone.

Thanks oneaugusta, I will use the toothbrush and Acetone idea, and seeing how you did not mention the Black Finish of the Putter Head, I am assuming the Acetone will not affect it?

Skip the acetone all together and get some paint stripper.

The black finish on the scotty is a PVD finish and the Acetone will not hurt it but I still wouldn't use alot of it, just a litlle on the tooth brush should work fine on the areas you want the paint off. I have put the white line on several of the new Scotty's at my shop and it's really not even necessary to remove the black sightline, just put the white line right on top. Either way will get the results.

Completly skip the nail polish, Tal-Strip paint remover works wonders. I personally use the jell so I can put it on just the places I wish to remove the paint.
