Go to Spargo. While joe and Leigh's offers fittings, they aren't as extensive and nationally renowned as Spargo. Spargo is consistently recognized nationally for his fittings. I know a few people who have gone to him, and the technology he employs in his fittings is second to none. They offer a full fitting right through the bag. Even putter.

SPARGO. Not even close from a fitting standpoint. Tom is a top 100 club fitter in the US

I just got fit at Spargo today. My swing was finally working rather well and was quite repeatable so a great time to visit. Found the right shaft/club combo that should work rather well and gave me some options for the head but are pretty set on shaft.

Now it's up to me to decide what club I'm going to go with. But the experience is well worth it, and to see that with the swing of various clubs and shafts how your 'miss' becomes much less of a miss and watch the dispersion close with every "try this". :)

Looking to get fitted for a set of AP2's or something similar. Does Spargo have sets there to try during the fitting?
[/quote]Yes, he does.

I ended up going to Spargo in June for an iron fitting. He was great to work with. I have since been back for a driver fitting and a putter fitting. Great experience. They have a various heads, Titleist, Mizuno, Wilson, and Tom Wishon just to name a few. They also have a lot of shafts to choose from. You can hit them all on the outdoor range. He will put something together that you like and build the clubs within two weeks.

I've only experienced Spargo Golf so I am a little biased but haven't been disappointed in the service Tom and his staff provide. Stopped by today to get grips installed on 9 clubs, got it done while I waited, about an hour tops. It was earlier in the morning so business hadn't picked up yet and his staff had the ability to do it, best part I was asked if that was ok. I had emailed Tom few weeks back regarding some changes with the driver, Tom had a fitting end early and had some time before the next and helped me out in between. He did not have to since I hadn't booked anything with him nor call ahead, I was just in there to drop of clubs for regripping. I can not say enough great things about the service Tom and his staff provide and will drive from Eastern CT every time cause I know it won't be a waste.

General fitting question - if I bring in a driver, could he/any fitter provide me with a new shaft using the existing head?
I ask because I do not have funds for whole new head+shaft combo, but would like to see the improvement a fitter could get with proper shaft.

Bandy1080 - how was the experience at Spargo? I'm thinking about going later this spring.

You shouldn't have any issues matching a shaft with your current driver head. What driver do you currently have? I had an R9 with the stock shaft. Tom had shafts with a Taylormade adapter to fit the R9 available so it was an easy process in-between demoing shafts. Just unscrew the head and switch it to the next shaft. Tom has also put a Callaway XHOT adapter on so I could demo the head with my driver shaft. That will take a little longer but is possible. You may also find during the fitting a shaft that fits your swing comes stock in a certain driver and may be less expensive to just purchase a new driver with the shaft you liked. Tom is great with not putting you into something that you'll regret just to make a sale. Enjoy the fitting and you'll see the improvements for sure.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate the reply. I have R11S driver with stock shaft and RBZStage2 5 wood with TrueTemper ProjectX. If we can mix and match, that would be fantastic. I think you officially sold me on scheduling a fitting. Thanks!

Fitting was great. He has quite the selection of clubs and irons to go through. He has a full launch monitor set up though we barely used it until the end. I must have tried 50 different iron combos and hit three large buckets of balls. He really knows his stuff.

I think the thing I liked the most is that it was low pressure. If you want to purchase through him, you know that it is going to be a perfect set of clubs, he is a perfectionist. But he knows that he is expensive and had no problem just giving me the specs to order from my club. He even said to bring the new set back to him and he will take a look at them to make sure they are perfect.

It's tough for him to compete price wise with the big box stores and discounting. Plus the brands he carries now aren't known for big price slashes every few weeks. He will though do as much as he can to give you the best pricing without hurting his bottom line. If he can't match another price I agree 100% he will make it up in his customer service for future concerns.

I wouldn't go to anyone else in the area besides Tom. By far, the best in the biz from a knowledge and service standpoint. His finished products are outstanding and top notch as well.
