Has the Overton DQ been discussed? My understanding is that there was a long wait after #9 and he went onto the practice putting green and used some sort of putting aid (presumably an alignment aid) and was immediately DQ'd. Apparently it was the putting aid that got him the DQ and that going to the practice putting green was legal. I would have thought going to the putting green mid-round is illegal, apparently it's not, but any kind of putting aids are illegal.

Because of weather, they had 3somes off 1 and 10. When he made the turn, there was a backup of three groups. A PGA official told him he could putt and chip. He went over to putt, used the training aid, then teed off 10.

An official learned what had happened, caught up to Overton on 11, and DQ'd him.

I looked up the rules regarding the Overton DQ. Apparently, they were right. You can practice putting on the hole last played or on a practice putting green during a round, even in stroke play. But the use of any kind of "aids" during a stipulated round is prohibited. Rules 7 and 14 apply.

Does anyone know the reason John Daly WD'd? Other than his usual bad play?

Wasn't it just a year or two ago that Julie Inkster got DQ'd for using a rubber weight on her club as she warmed up after a mid-round delay? You would think the pros would remember that.

Pretty sure it was just bad play...when the play suspension hit and a Saturday finish to the second round was emminent I think he just said "ain't gonna make the cut anyway, not gonna go out early tomorrow for nothing." Just my guess though.

Apparently (according to another site), Julie was DQ'd in 2010 for it and Camillo was DQ'd in 2011 for a similar infraction.

Huh...I think all Canadian golf fans are rooting for Graham Delaet as I have watched most of the tourney. He will be a top ten player soon he just has too much talent
