FBR OPEN A DISGRACE!

:) I am sitting here watching the FBR OPEN! These drunks do not know if they are at a golf tournament or a football game! These people are a disgrace to the game of golf!!!!! No decorum!! The TV announcers are as bad as the fans!! These people would certainly not be allowed to act like this at AUGUSTA!!! These people are a bunch of CLOWNS!!! :)

No harm, no foul. As long as it doesn't spread (and it hasn't been allowed to in all this time) it is a non-issue as far as I'm concerned. Kind of entertaining actually.

 

Augusta is specail for its reasons; the FBR is special for its own reasons.

There are alot of things that wouldn't happen at Augusta, doesn't make them wrong. I'm assuming your talking about the 16th hole. I kind of like it, it's different and definately high energy.

I think it's great fun. Would you not want to be able to hit a shot in front of allthose crazy folks? I would like to see what most people would do in that arena. Like the previous poster said it is just one hole and most of the players know what to expect.

I love the game and like to watch golf on TV but most of the time these small tourneys are just plain and boring. The FBR is one of the best to watch because you never know whats going to happen. The 16th hole is the best thing for the tour's broadcast. Its fun to watch and great TV. Take your suit and tie off and just join in with the excitement. Its just a sporting event and thats it. Have some fun and embrace it.

Face it lucybeth no one agree's with you. I think its a great hole and it's one of the reasons I watch the tournament. I wish more tounraments would have holes like this.

Yah I think its fun for a change. As long as they dont yell during their backswing or something. I think the pros enjoy it too.

it has been like that since I first went to the tournament back in '89. It is the way that the tournament is. Do you think that the tournament officials would allow it if it didn't bring a unique aspect about the tournament. Sure they are drunk, but have you seen the beer prices on that hole? It brings plenty of money to the charities. Plus the gallery sized are huge. Heck, you could shank the ball and they would yell for it to go in the hole. There is a standing policy that if somebody gets out of hand and tries to distract or upset any of the players, that they will get tossed from the tournament grounds. It is well policed and is great fun. I personally would love to hit a shot with about 20,000+ people watching me.

 

Don't think that just because it is a PGA tour event that it is out of hand behavior. That is what is unique.

as I understand it that is part of the charm, have you NEVER seen the video when Tiger aces the 16th at that particular tournament and all the beer cups come raining down? *EPIC* a total Classic.

 

Now my experience at the Masters ( BTW-my favorite golf tournament EVER) which is held at the National (as the Green Jackets call it) is way too extreme on the other end. sir No runnning at The National, sir No Sleeping at The National (a Freakin' Rain delay under an umbrella), sir No Profanity at The National, maam No Bare feet at The National (thanks for that) :) :) :fool: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:

I'm kind of a stiff boring person myself, so normally I don't like these kind of drunken hooligans. I do NOT want to see this type of fan behavior propogage throughout the entire PGA Tour roster of events. I attend the Byron Nelson every year - and it turns my stomach to watch the idiotic drunken fools out there and the "posing" that's going on.

 

Having said that - I think it would be a lot of fun to be there as a player, "hi-5'ing" the fans, and having fun with them. I'm OK with the 16th hole, but ONLY........if they don't insult the players for undue reasons. What I don't like to see (or hear) is when the fans go over the edge, with personal insults (ex: yelling "fatty" to the big guys like Lumpy, Stadler, etc.) or other derogatory comments like that. Thankfully - these types of comments are in the minority.

The FBR continually is the highest charity donating event on the entire PGA Tour schedule. Last year set a PGA Tour record at 6.83 million for local charities.

 

Personally I like to see players in a different atmosphere.

The players LOVE that hole. It's a fun atmosphere and most of those guys get into it. 13 at Colonial is a similar scene, though on a much smaller scale. It's gotten a bit louder with the margarita tents being moved next to the green the last few years.

 

A great many of these players enjoy the party scene. The ones that don't probably just skip similar events.

 

I agree with the comment about the Nelson. I've only been over there once and don't plan to go back. That said, I rarely get east of Tarrant County.

I get a kick out of 16, I would hate to see it spread to the entire course though. Most of the players seem to be hip to it so it's a fun thing. I actually enjoy it much more than I enjoy the fiasco that is Pebble Beach. I get sick of Ray Romano, Kevin James, and a bunch of other celebs making a crappy attempt at humor. I'm not a George Lopez fan by any means but I thought he was very good with the Hope this year.
