Very Miura, Very Limited: Black Boron Finish Irons

Vancouver, BC -Miura Golf, maker of the world's finest forged golf clubs, understands the value of a good finish. Just as with a golf swing, the right finish on a golf club can elevate it from wonderful to sublime. That's why Miura will be offering a very limited number of iron sets in a special Black Boron finish.

 

These irons are so painstakingly made that Miura can only promise about 10 sets every other month. The Boron finish is a delicate manufacturing process that requires switching over the finishing production line from the usual nickel chrome setup. So far, we have made our CB-501 and Passing Point 9003 in this new Black Boron; the initial sets sold out rapidly.

 

"We've found black finishes so popular that we really had to look into making these, even though we can only manage small quantities and maintain Miura standards," said Adam Barr, president of Miura. The Black Boron's color density makes it look more deeply black than other black finishes; that's partially a result of the process, which gets the boron deep into the finish. The coloring is very durable as well. And the Black Borons offer one more black option for Miura enthusiasts.

Been playing mine for a year now.....they are just as awesome after over 100 rounds as they are when new. Definitely get a lot of attention at the range and on all the courses. :)

The limited black forged is a different finish. It can actually rust. Whereas the black boron are similar to the chrome finishes

I'm happy with my silver and red custom job I did myself on my 501's, but if I wanted to look damn seksy out of the gate WOW.

The rarity of the heads make me think we're a couple of years from seeing this in-stock anywhere. But in 2022, when I have to transition down to stiffs... yes, please. Those. Because let's be honest; irons won't be any better then.

Never really liked the black finishes cuz they look terrible once played for a while IMO, but that's a different deal altogether. I would do all my sets in that finish if I could.

Just a little additional info for prospective buyers....I have been playing my Boron Black 9003's for just over a year and the finish is really durable.....AND it is renewable........yup...you can refresh it as you see fit.

 

I played yesterday at a private course where the driving range is essentially a sand base with grass on it......I spent about an hour hitting balls and the sand really chewed up the black finish on the short irons....lots of healthy divots later the finish in the sweet spot and the sole was pretty much worn off.

 

This is what my PW looked like after the practice and the round....

 

After I got home I cleaned my clubs and dipped them in "Black oxide" solution for a few minutes and this is what the PW looks like now.

 

While the Boron Black is a different finish than the black oxide (Like the "Limited Forged" blades and black tour wedges) ...the black oxide solution does refresh the boron finish as well........I have done this about 3-4 times in the past year, after playing particularly sandy courses. Playing regular turf with soil base does not wear them nearly as fast........ it is good to know that the finish can be refreshed easily at home.

 

Buy 'em....love 'em....they are great irons and you get lots of ooohs and ahhhs when you have them in your bag.

I would love to have my current 501's refinished in the black boron coating, but when I posed the question to them on Facebook they said they couldnt do it? anyone know why?

Miura does not do refinishing of any irons. You best option would be to sells our current set and buy the black boron. I also reckon that if they are willing to refinish, it would cost a quite a bit.

Plus it is a long process to remove the current finish on your irons. Hope this reply helps.

Those 501's are basically my dream set of irons. Only improvement would be a straight neck version as with the Passing Point irons.

Sadly they are but a dream at that price. Even if I bought them though, I'd be reluctant to damage them. So beautiful.
