Coverage for sure sucks...but anyone who thinks Danny Gans is a "no tallent a** clown" is just not well informed and/or doesnt know who he is and his act. He might not have been interesting, to you, but he has more talent than most could dream. His show in Vegas is awesome! Not to mention it would be hard to make the MMMMMillions of dollars he has being a no talent a** clown...dontcha think?

 

So he's in the same league as Paris Hilton, Anna nicole Smith, etc..., and people wonder what's wrong with this country???

 

if i read and remember correctly, the 10 year, $150 million deal he has with the mirage should make a distinction of talent.....if it doesn't then that's what's wrong with this country

We'll actually be able to see some real golf today. If I wanted to see some hacks I would just go out to the local muni's range. I want to watch some pro golf in a pro tournament!!!! They should just do away with the celebrity tourneys all together. They ruin the entire event for the spectators and pro golfers. Could you imagine getting stuck with Bill Murray and a 6 1/2 hour round!!! ;) :cheesy: ;) :D (cool)

Euro coverage is 10x better than this tournament for sure, but as a general rule I would disagree. Most Euro coverage I see seems to be a lot of putting, with not many shots being shown. It seems like they only have two cameras on the course. And while I agree that Renton Laidlaw is better than listening to Danny Gans and Nick Faldo I do get tired of listening to Renton etc. babble about what they had for lunch etc. It is almost too casual, and gets very boring as well. However I will take boring over annoying any day, which is what Pebble Beach has turned in to.

 

 

 

There is no doubt that the network is catering to the causal watcher that is more interested in seeing celebrities than golf. I dont understand why they are going gor this strategy though, I mean does anyone watch the celebrity tour that they show on occasion? With out a doubt the most painful sports broadcast ever. I just dont understand why anyone would want to spend thier day watching Glenn Fry and Danny Gans play golf, I think I would rather spend my time cleaning the garage.

coverage for me didn't pick up until nearly 12:30 on Sat.... I dont mind them finishing the UCLA/WV game that went a few minutes over, but why subject me to the last 2-3 minutes of ILL/IND game were they called a timeout every few seconds..

So I take it this is the first year all of you have watched the clambake on CBS? It's like this ever year. The only difference is this year it's overkill of Danny Gans, but last year it was Lopez, year before Romano, etc.....There's nothing new here and nothing will change next year.

 

As for all of you complaining about long rounds with hacks, any of you would kill for the opportunity to be in that tournament as an amateur. You would find a way to endure the 6 hour round.

I'd endure for sure... 6 hours is 2x what it normally takes me, but if I was playing pebble I'd relax.

yea euro coverage is great!........if you put it on mute! hahahaha. those dudes with the short sleeve dress shirts and ties announcing are horrid! granted johnny miller and faldo are no gem....i think i state a fair case.

OMG! CBS's coverage is driving me ;) I watched for a couple hours and saw a total of about 5-6 shots combined of Mickelson and Furyk. Great coverage of Danny Gans though... shoot me now.

 

I'll never see Danny Gans show in Las Vegas simply because of what I've seen of him this week at the AT&T. The phrase "no-talent @$$ clown" comes to mind.

 

I knew it was time to change the channel when he did a Dean Martin impersonation. :cheesy:

Gans left a short putt, well, short after one of his 'classic' impersonations, and either Flado or Baker-Finch dead-panned, "Maybe he should start impersonating a good putter..." Five seconds of silence followed. I almost fell out of my chair. ;)

Gans may be a talented singer, he may be a talented performer - but no way in hell he's a talented impersonator.....yiiiuukkkkZZZZZ..........that man does not sound like any of the guys he thinks he is impersonating. He does not sound like Al Pacino, he does not sound like Woody Allen, he does not sound like Dean Martin, he does not sound like Dr. Evil.

 

He however sounds like a self-obsessed fool - but what the heck, I can always change the channel, turn off the TV or simply skip two PGA Tour events in one year - no big problem :drinks:

The coverage was not that great. There were too many commercials especially when considering there was so much golf being played. Seeing Gans a few times O.K. But there was so much going celeberities and all that we could have seen a lot more golf. Saturday was upsetting because Philly Mick was leading the tournament, but they never showed him. Why?
