Either or is fine.November might hold to clearer skies and early spring bigger storms. Temps are pretty much the same unless the eskimo express comes a callin'. Wise to pack for both as it can be a toss up day to day. Right now Bandon has some funky weather goin.

After talking with another buddy, we are going to go in late July during the "Best Season". Its a one time gig so we would rather just buck up and pay more to enjoy it more.

odshot68,

summer is generally the safest bet, in terms of sun vs rain.

The only caution is that the locals say there is often more wind in the summer than the winter. In July 2001 we had a consistent 3 club wind over 5 sunny days.

The past several Decembers we have had less wind, but a much greater chance of rain and cooler temperatures.

Whatever time of year, you'll have a blast.

November and December are my favorite months. I played this week with less than a 5 mph wind and 50 degree temperatures.

The summer months are my least favorite. The summer winds at the Oregon coast are a beast, up to a 5 club wind in the afternoons. I would rather play in a lighter winter rain than an afternoon summer day hands down.

Thats interesting. Obviously, you can't predict the weather but if you go in November is there enough sun to get in 36 holes a day? I wouldn't be a fan of a 5 club wind for sure.

It would be close to get 36 in, but possible. Bandon is a little further north than Grand Rapids, and the days are short this time of year (about 7:30 am sunrise and 4:35 sunset right now). On Monday I played PD in 4 hours and 5 minutes. I would assume you would have to book your times a long time in advance to get the prime times so you can get 36 in.

I can cheat and day trip it depending on the weather, but to me if I left Oregon and came back to play Bandon I would roll the dice and play this time of year.

I went a few years back in Dec and it was 60 and sunny with no wind. Going again in January and can't wait. I can take the rain, grew up in the PNW/ not a huge fan of the summer coastal wind. Just have good rain gear and you will be fine!!

I've done trips in November and March and this is why, given a choice, I prefer March. If you can get there after Daylight Savings starts it's a whole lot easier to get in 36. In fact, last March we were the second group off on Pacific, had a quick lunch, played Bandon and then hustled over to Preserve for 8 more holes before it was too dark to see. It took a lot of beer and Advil to recover, but it was an amazing experience that we wouldn't have been able to manage in November.
