Recently returned from Orlando area

I spent the last 2 weeks of Feb on the east side of Orlando. It was primarily a visit the kids & grand kids trip but I managed 5 rounds of golf.

I played Eagle Creek, Mystic Dunes, El Campeon, Grand Shores, Royal St Cloud, and Harmony Preserve.

Prices ranged from $45 for Royal St Cloud to $80 for Eagle Creek. I thought all were in good condition and the only one I had pace of play problems was Eagle Creek. All rounds except eagle Creek were morning rounds teeing off between 08:00 and 08:30. Eagle creek I teed of ~12:40. Front 9 was 2 hours. Back nine i had to quit after 3 hours with 2 holes to play as I had dinner plans with the family.

Royal St Cloud as a Links style was wide open and a good bargain for the price and condition. All courses were very playable with plenty of room on most holes.

This was my 3rd round at El Campeon and it did not disappoint. The others were all my 1st round at and I would not hesitate to play again but would try to avoid an afternoon round if possible.

Eagle Creek seems to be busy all the time. I played there in early January on a Thursday and we were waiting on every shot. It was a good price and everyone seemed to know it. We were playing a round before flying out, the proximity to the airport seems to be a big selling point.

Thanks for replying to the other post about Mystic Dunes. I really like the layout (even the funky greens). I was just disappointed the last time I played there, it was in horrible condition. From reviews I read lately there have been other people who had issue with it too.

Pictures like these are what have me worried. I know they were from a while ago, but this was close to what I saw the last time I was there.

Played Mystic Dunes last week. Really interesting layout. Conditions are really bad. Lots of construction going on - new houses. Course is not getting the needed water. Talked to a few golfers later in the week who thought Mystic Dunes is up for sale.

Other courses we played - Royal St. Cloud. Shingle Creek, Mission Inn - El Campeon and Timacuan. All these courses were in decent shape with El Campeon being the best.
