Hot Metal 919 PRO.. Bending feedback

Hey all,

I have 2 Hot Metal Pro 4 irons.. They are stock lofted at 20*.. One I want to use as standard as my strong 3 iron.. the other i want to bend to a loft that fits my actual 4 iron distances which will be somewhere around 24 degrees.. These irons come with nearly 0 degree bounce.. So if i bend one of them to make a real 4 iron I will effectivly increase the bounce from 0 to 3 degrees.. any see any issue with this or have done this?

Loft and bounce go together 1-to-1.

Not sure if that just means Mizuno won't do it and it can be done at your own risk later by a shop, or if the metal just won't take it. Seems unusual since the lie can be tweaked, but if I recall, that was done on their end as well.

I believe you can bend the HMPs a bit, but 4* seems like a lot and you will affect bounce and offset (you can get up to 2* weak or strong when you order one). You're better off buying an HMP 5i (which is 23*) and selling the extra 4i - that should be a reasonably easy club to sell, as it works well as a "driving iron" for guys with other iron sets.

I was told by Mizuno they can't/wouldn't bend them more than 2º from the designated loft.

Interesting hearing some guys saying they can't be or Mizuno won't bend them as Chris Voshall in his interview said they made them with chrome-moly so they can be bent.. Side note, some tour guys have the 4 iron blank in their bag so it can be bent to their specs.. I just noticed Paul Casey is using the blank and the 4 iron.. I find it hard to believe he is playing his 4biron at 19 degrees

Can go from 2* weak to 2* strong, and 3* upright to 3* flat. I've ordered my Mizunos through Carl's, Mizuno builds and drops ships them direct to me according to spec (including wraps). But I think bending 4* weak (from neutral) is probably at or past the limit the head can safely handle. Also would be a fairly significant bounce change.
