Am I shallowing the club enough?

In your backswing you don't create enough depth with your lead arm (left arm for you). Shaft looks laid off by p3 (left arm parallel to ground), which wants to steepen in transition. Ideally you want more lead arm depth in your backswing, and load the shaft vertically (use of proper wrist hinge) and try to eliminate the "arm lift" you do. Your arms want to lift because you're not creating enough depth

long story short: you want a vertically loaded shaft with hands/lead arm deeper in your pivot, which helps you set you up for shallowing / laying off the shaft in transition. I would start with making changes in your backswing first and then film it to see what your downswing looks like so you know what issues to address there in order to match things up.

I'm not an instructor but in slow motion it looks like you lunge at the ball with your upper body. Look at how your left knee doesn't move till after you move your upper body down to the ball. Shouldn't you start the swing by shifting to the left from the ground up so the club can fall into place? Instead of bump, dump and turn as Monte says, your move is dump, bump and turn

Thanks guys. Can you explain what you mean by “depth with your lead arm”? I’m not real familiar with golf swing terminology.

Do I create the depth by actively doing something with hands/arms in backswing or is it more of a body movement in the backswing that creates the depth.

Thanks

Depth is about the relationship between your lead (left) arm and shoulders - your hands are well above them at the top of backswing vs being more in line with them (where they would be farther from the ball horizontally). It’s easier to shallow from a deeper position, takes less time.

But also play attention to getting the shaft more vertical going back. When you’re laid off halfway back the momentum at the top takes it toward ott.

In general, at the top you want your hands to be in line with the heel of your foot - your hands are in line with the arch.

The magic drill - keep shaft touching your side until shaft parallel then set wrists and drag stick down your lead leg keeping the stick pointing between the ball and your toes. I find it helps to push the alignment stick into the butt end of the club.

That’s very quick progress in terms of deeper hands and regaining flexion in the downswing. Hard to see what the face is doing at that speed but don’t fret if the ball isn’t going where you want it to start. Next time I would post a down the line and front on with a practice exaggeration swing before you hit it. Don’t try and do too much at once, been there it messes me up.

Tush line and club shaft angle backswing and downswing left arm parallel are good for self analysis
