New guy from the Island that is Long

Hi Y'all,

I'm just joining up after browsing this site for a while. Definitely the best place for all your golf information. Spent a lot of time checking out the WITB and makes be envious of all the cool stuff everyone has.

From Long Island, been playing since I was about 2 but fell out of it for a while and now I'm back into it and obsessed. Never recorded my handicap but just joined the MGA of New York and going to start recording handicap. Guess it would have made sense to do that at the beginning of the season and not the end but oh well. Looking forward to contributing and joining the community.

Welcome! I've got family up in East Northport and one of these days I am going to visit at a time of year when I can play Bethpage. It doesn't even have to be the Black. I'd happily play the Red.

Honestly, all the courses at Bethpage are beautiful.

I've been a huge browser of these as well and finally pulled the trigger on joining. I just got into golf pretty much last march and am a 6.2 right now. Looking at potentially joining a club in LI next summer.

Unfortunately, while you are playing there, you get to admire that beauty for 5.5 to 6 hours. To put a positive spin on it, you get a long time to consider every option and pace off yardage of every shot before there is enough open space in front of you, to allow you to make your shot.

It's only gotten worse since getting added to US Open course rotation.

Welcome! Be prepared to start spending 400% more on golf gear every year . There's also a 27.4% chance that you will be drawn into a "Blades vs Cavity Back" argument during your first year here. Other than that, have a blast :)

This is true, but if I can visualize a shot 14 times before I can actually take it, might help my game.
