Long-Term Follow-up: Who had both TS2/3?

TS3 has been fairly stable in my bag, with multiple attempts to dethrone it. Went through G410+ and LST with multiple shafts and an F9. Nothing got close to being as well rounded as the TS3 (overall performance, look, sound)

That said, I tried those other drivers hoping to make my misses slightly better, while holding on to as much of the TS3 launch/spin as much as possible. On a black friday spend a ton gone off the rails, I picked up a TS2 head as I never really gave it a shot. I'm heading into a battle of a 10.5 TS3 vs 9.5 TS2.

What should I expect? I'm certain people had this Titleist heavyweight bout, and I'm not looking for youtube reviews. So how bout it?

I've had TS2, TS3, and TS4. I think TS4 was probably longest for me because spin was consistently lowest but I have ultimately settled on the TS2 for now. I hit some bombs with the TS4-- For some reason I couldn't really get the TS3 dialed in, I've tried a handful of shafts and spin numbers were fine for me with TS2. The extra forgiveness is super nice. I went 9.5 in all three heads but for me TS2 is probably one of the better all around drivers I've had this year and believe me, I've had them all at least once this year.

Following. Bounced back and forth between TS2 and TS4.... never really gave TS3 a fair chance.

TS3 gave me the better numbers though I liked TS2. Something strange about the look at address though - very straight? Also too much draw for me. Both great.

I’ve loved my TS3... when I’m Swinging right, it’s the perfect combo of long, low spin, and workable.

I just have days that "hard not to hit straight" would be preferred.

Is is that what people are saying on the TS2?

Also comments on stock flight. Higher than TS3 in launch?

    better ballspeed in misses?

    ”straighter” on your B swing?

They're VERY similar drivers with the TS3 IMO looking a bit better, having more adjustability, and a very small amount less spin. Almost interchangeable drivers. Take a look at the MOI and CG report - in neutral or draw setting it is a very forgiving driver. https://****.com/2019-driver-center-of-gravity-and-moi-report/

I had good numbers with each. Went with TS3 10.5 turned down to 9.75. TS2 was nice but couldn't get over how the TS3 looked behind the ball. Interested to hear how this experiment goes.

I demoed the TS2 at Dicks and absolutely loved it, especially with the Project X Smoke 6.0 in it. I compared it to the Epic Flash and M6 and I had the best spin numbers and most consistent distance with the TS2. It was also the best feeling driver of the group. Annoyingly, I ended up having to special order it because they only had one left handed stock shaft option (Tensai AV Blue 55) in store and even online. I am still waiting for it to come so I can try it further.

Unfortunately I could not demo the TS3 because Dicks did not have it in Left handed.

Yes. I’m interested too. It’s very cold, but I’m off work. I wanna hit them side by side.

If the TS2 is a bit more predictable in shot shape, it will end up being better unless I’m legit ballooning it (Which I doubt with either the smoke or my tensei orange would allow), then it will likely win.

2 way miss has been controllable, but when I’m playing for one, and the other arises, it’s trouble.

Hope to get out in next 2 weeks.

I tested a 9.5 TS3 before going with 9.5 TS2; they are different heads. Best advise don't compare apples to oranges and expect a legit outcome. What happens down range will depend on your swing mechanics and club-head lofts and shaft being equal. What I found is very few of those playing the TS3 actually take advantage of its bias over TS2, that being TS3 is a bit more workable with slightly lower trajectory.

I work all my irons both directions but driver not so much. All I want from TS2 is minimal dispersion and a fairway finder.

Yes. When I’m on and can work TS3. Wow.

Im hoping TS2 is higher and straighter (harder to work)

@Mahamilto - TS2 by design provides a higher trajctory and bit harder to work but is still workable, all depends on the persons ability and ball. I can work TS2 but tend not to unless conditions say otherwise. In my hands it's a trusty point and shoot fairway finder.

Does Dick’s not have a wrench? This makes no sense. They could have swapped shafts. What did I miss?

Ok... So I got out today on an empty course that is fairly wide open and good to test drivers (despite it being 38* and very windy). Hit the TS3/TS2 side by side on about 5 holes, then just played the TS2 out.

I had possibly my best driving day of 2019 with my first round with the TS2. While I will admit I had my driver swing today, the TS2 point and shoot absolutely shocked me. Ill spare everyone the raw numbers and just upload the arccos data below, and then I'll give a brief review.

TS2 - Tensei Pro Orange 45.5" 9.5 set to 8.75 - The TS2 was just point and shoo. If I missed, it was a big draw that still stayed in play when I aimed for right of center. I did snap hook one later in the round, but on a very poor swing and even it went 248 and findable.

TS3 - HZRDUS SMOKE BLACK 60 10.5 set to 9.75 - The TS3 was, in a word, workable. If my path was a bit inside/outside, the shape of the flight changed. When I do this on purpose its fantastic, when its accidental... not so much. A massive block right OB came today trying to straighten out a big draw on the previous hole. Small adjustment, huge change of flight.

On the 5 holes I hit both drivers, two the wind was like 10-12 at my back, 2 were into the wind, one cross wind.

    • The TS2 launched about 2* higher than the TS3 on average.
    • The peak was visibly higher, but the roll out was longer than expected and we had some rain of late. TS3 rollout was longer, but came in shallower.
    • While the lower flight gave the TS3 the edge into the 15mph headwind, the TS2 must have very low spin anyway because the difference was 5-10yards. TS2 was longer on the longest drives, which came with wind at back.
    • Of the 5 holes I hit both, The TS3 I had a left miss and a right miss, one being a massive block right that went OB and would have hurt. All TS2 balls were playable, 4 with a clear look in.

So there you go, a clear winner today in the TS2, albeit without the same shaft. It shows me, at least, that I should swap shafts and see if anything changes. More to come!

Arccos fob was on the TS2 all day, below is the data.

I’ve heard that line too. I’ve brought my own wrench and just swapped the demo heads while they looked for the specific driver I wanted.

Generally, our LGS no longer gives out Titleist wrenches. They seem to be out of them and apparently not getting new shipments. ODD. When I bought my TS2 they gave me a TM wrench which fits too.

Got another round in with the TS2 today.

Conditions in NYC were 55 with 10-20mph winds and very very wet (occasional standing water in places)

TS2 continues to impress, though not as good of a driving day as the first round out. Didn’t bother to bag the TS3 today, as I wanted to just get used to the 2.

    1. Certainly more left bias than my TS3. But, my 2 way miss has been completely eliminated, and my worst left misses are actually more manageable than my worst left misses with TS3 (on bad swings for example)
    2. TS2 distance (Arccos) was hard to judge due to the limited roll out. That said, I had a few still roll out very well on drier parts of the course. I DO NOT think the spin difference is that big between the TS2 and TS3 (for me, with 1* higher loft in my TS3.
    3. The TS2 still launches visibly higher than what I was used to from the TS3.

I shot very well today too. I think having a one way miss is big, and there is no doubt in my mind the TS2 is more forgiving both directionally and ball speed on misses around the face. The TS3 may still be a touch longer on my best drives.
