Trackman and the new stuff...always a great day!

A playing partner and I spent several hours on a Trackman yesterday. We are very different golfers...he is 25years old, playing at scratch, and his best drive numbers for the day came from swings in the 110mph area yielding an average of 303 yards and I believe 311 tops. I will be 61 in a few weeks, playing to a 7, and my average drive was 262 yards with a swing speed averaging 98-99.

My friend plays Srixon 945's, and for the most part Callaway metals. It was crazy how close to optimum he was on the majority of his clubs. No other heads he tried matched his own clubs. It was SO fun to watch his first time on Trackman. I play Taylormade P770's with Taylormade metals. My best numbers were clearly with the Epon AF and Steelfiber 95gm shafts (unfortunate since I was quoted $350 per club lol).

Though we are very different in our games, we both share an eye for the same equipment (his 945's with 110gm Recoils were formerly my gamers). So what we tried and comments:

Ping BP- This was our favorite behind the ball. Neither of us got good numbers with them. Neither of us were impressed with the feel. This was our biggest disappointment.Taylormade P730- This too is a great looking club. Numbers and feel were modestly better for us compared to the Ping BP.Titleist 620CB - We both got numbers that were only slightly worse than what we got with our own clubs. We both loved the look, the feel was good, and we both feel we would happily put them in our bag if we were to make a change.Epon AF- I was the only one to hit these and I was pretty impressed. The feel is what everyone says it is...excellent. Spin numbers were a little lower than with my own which is a good thing (7i averaged 7200. Distance and ball speed were obviously the best of any club I hit. I may have to pick up a set on the Bay sometime, but I can't justify the new price...or at least not to my wife.No real point to any of this, but we had a great time!

I also swing 98-99mph and get the same driver distances as you. My carry is about 230 yards, with an occasional 240 carry. Could you post your driver and iron trackman numbers? I'd like to see your iron spin, carry, and launch numbers.

On another note, I really like the P770's, but just got a set of P760's. Have you tried the P760's too? If so, how did they compare for you?

I did not Sir. They looked good of course and if past performance means anything at all I would expect little difference. Of course I have nothing to support that is the case with the 620's.

For some reason he did not have the P760 and that would have been one I would have hit for sure. I will try to post a few of the numbers(I can't figure out how to copy and paste from their report). I took what I learned to the range today and I do feel it helped. My biggest issue with irons IMO was too much spin loft and not enough club head speed. Today I played the ball further back in my stance and held on at impact a little bit and strikes seemed consistently more solid.

----------------------Club Speed--------Ball Speed-----Spin Rate----Spin Loft------ Carry--------Total

Driver 1st Swing --------98.2-----------140.9----------2903----------19.2----------233.8----------260.4

3 Wood ---------------- 92.4-----------133.5-----------3794---------19.6----------212.2----------232.5

4i Hybrid ---------------88.3-----------126.8-----------5329---------25.9----------190.8---------202.8

7 iron -------------------81.9-----------109.6-----------7437---------32.9----------152.8----------158.8

9 iron -------------------78.4-----------97.2------------9577---------40.7----------128.9----------131.4

Epon AF 7i--------------84.2------------116.4-----------6652--------30.1-----------166.5----------174.6. (This one was sweet)

Hope that helps!

Not sure what you mean by Hmmmm, but here is how it looks when I paste and copy (see below). So here you have it copied directly from my test report sent by Trackman. I am not particularly happy with these numbers and less happy with your seemingly condescending or your questioning the validity of my post. Regardless of where I would like to be and regardless of what you think of these numbers, it obviously is what it is. I will be 61 this week and this is my second year back to golf after compound fracturing both arms about 15 years ago in a MVA. So I am happy to be on the course at all.

At the end of the day kody17, post like yours usually originate from people that think they know a whole lot more than they know. Obviously you jumped on this not to try and make any useful contribution, but instead to question the integrity of my post. Well Sir, take a look below and feel free to comment. Do you think they sent me corrupt date, was it a poor reading, or was your original comment only supported by your poor understanding of trackman sessions?

Sorry if it sounded like I was coming off as being mean. I didn't mean it to come off that way. I just don't understand how you can get 30 yards of roll with almost 3000 rpms of spin, especially when it's coming from a launch monitor like Trackman. I could understand if you were at a Golf Galaxy using a cheap launch monitor. Anyways, sorry for the confusion with the post. No hard feelings meant.
