Please help me stink less

Hey all,

ive been playing for a few years now and shockingly I struggle with consistency. I tend to come over the top and cast a bit resulting in a lot of miserable thin shots. Any tips other than taking up tennis?

a miss on a decent strike will overdraw a bit but i mostly struggle with a thin push out right, im trying to work on hitting down on the ball and shallowing out a bit

A down the line video would be awesome to see in regards to ball flight issue. From what you indicate, it appears as though your path is generally in to out. You hit pushes when your face matches your path and you hit draws when your face is closed to path.

You definitely do well to have a centered pivot and rotation in your back swing. On the downswing, you seem to "lose your angles". I am not saying you need Sergio esque lag but it looks as if you are throwing your arms and hands at the ball rather than using your pivot to hit the ball. Would be interested to hear what feels you have during the swing

I'm not a golf instructor, and other more knowledgeable folks will probably chime in, but I'm seeing a very pronounced flip at impact. It's there to try to correct an earlier flaw in your swing - what looks like a mild reverse pivot.

The reverse pivot causes your weight/body to be so far out in front of the ball in your downswing that you can't get the club face square with just a turn. Therefore, you have to flip it.

When we look at your misses, this makes sense. One of two things happen -, you either flip to square the clubface - resulting in the miss left. Or, you don't flip, leaving the clubface open - resulting in the miss right.

The solution is to maintain your spine tilt away from the target throughout your swing.

We will see how this analysis stands up to scrutiny.

going to try to get out to the range tonight or tomorrow to get a ball flight video. i battle between maintaining spine angles and keeping weight moving in the correct direction(i was plagues by a SERIOUS reverse pivot when i first started playing) and it seems when i fix one the other pops back in. going to try to swing a few with more lag in mind. seems like youre lining up with the consensus lol, going to look into some reverse pivot videos and see if we can get some drills going.

Hip turn is main issue. You move your pelvis toward the target in the backswing - if you were to put stick just outside your left foot you hip should work away from it.

See how your butt is outside your left ankle. And how far your right hip has moved - you turned but moved your pelvis toward the target. On backswing left knee works out toward the toes and rotation will bring it in a little bit - left knee works out toward toes as knee gains flex and right hip works up and back with right knee losing a little bit of flex - feel is that you are turning your right butt cheek toward the target.

You lose your angles cause due to transition - you have no lateral shift to start transition - you are rotating back from the top - causes you to dump angles early. Need to fix hip turn and then work on recentering move.
