Skycaddie annual renewal

Recommended Posts

what a mess
I've had my skycaddie for a year now. I like my rangefinder better but also find value in the gps. I'm pretty computer savvy and just spent a good hour trying to do an annual renewal. Finally had success after lots of trying. Click this, click that, connect, reconnect, we can't find your skycaddie connected, etc. etc. for an hour. This is a really nice technology but I will tell you that this company does not make it easy. I can imagine that many new and potential customers must just give up in frustration.

I'm getting the message on my SkyCaddie to do the same. I've been putting it off because I went through the same thing you did last year. While the products are good - not great, the company needs help.

I have the SG3 and the UP button quit working. I am going to live with it until I replace it (with another brand) simply because of the customer service (or lack of).

I have had Skycaddie for 4 years (3 renewals) and no problems at all, did have an SG2 that broke after a little over a year and sent it back and they told me it was beyond repair, now you have to understand it was never wet, never thrown to the ground (like some of the commercials) so I was pretty disappointed in that. Other than that I really like the SG 5 better than the sight line range finders, but thats just me..

That's why I replaced my SG2, which I had used for 4-5 seasons, with one equally good or better (IMHO) that requires no annual fees!

I went with the Golf Guru. Honestly, at first, I had some real issues with them as I chose their device because of the self mapping capability which did not work as advertised and resulted in wasted hours of my time. I was ready to send the unit back but I got a call from the President of the company (how often does that happen?) asking me to have faith and work with them and if I still ended up dissatisfied they would do right by me. It has paid off as far as I am concerned.

They, like uPro and others, are not the only ones to have had some start up problems. With the Golf Guru they were all software related, never hardware, and there may still be some issues with some of their older, original course maps, but since they got the bugs worked out I have been very pleased! The GPS receiver is extremely accurate and repeatable, I personally like the self mapping capability so I know exactly what points on the ground that the "to" and "clear" distances refer to, it has a SmartGreen feature similar to the Intelligreen from SkyGolf, better marking feature (the club and location you hit from are saved along with distance for review later), scoring and stat tracking are available if you are so inclined, no annual fees, great customer service.....
