Adams A4 Tour (satin)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just wanted to get some feedback and clarification from anyone that actually has knowledge about these irons.

I currently have a 3-pw set of A4 Tours (satin) that I am selling

I have had several questions asking if they were forged or cast. Adams has been no help as these are proto's and they do not discuss no retail versions.

Here is a link to a website claiming they are forged. (THEY FEEL FORGED, softer than some forged's that I play)

A4 Tour - Forged

Anyone know for sure.

Thanks for the help.

I appreciate your response, any club spec sheet or info?

The biggest question I'm getting is why is the retail A4 (forged) and the A4 Tour(tour only) cast?

Thanks for answer help.

I don't think there's an answer to that question as it never made sense but the retail satin heads are forged and the cast ones were tour issue only in limited quantities with less offset and forgiveness. As you mentioned the cast ones feel as soft as the forged and will last longer. Many ebay sellers wrongly sell the satin forged as tour issue.

Hi guys,

Well, I must admit that is pretty strange ("Cast Tour A4's versus Forged Retail A4's")....and then there is their calling the newer version A7's an upgrade to the forged A4's. What do you think they were trying to do? In my sincere opinion Adams is ABSOLUTELY at the top of the competitive stack in the Golf Club industry today. They have garnered market share away from Taylormade, Titleist, Nike, Cobra and Ping. and they are doing it right. By giving the players what they WANT.
I was the guy who was in contact with the seller on Ebay about his A4 Tour Satins. He is a great guy-very honest and straight forward. But "WHY" would Adams intentionally make the retail A4's Forged and the TOUR A4 Satins Cast?

Clearly, Forged clubs are superior to Cast. While 8620 "alloy steel" isn't truly carbon steel (as some manufacturers claim in the golf industry- because there isn't enough carbon in it to be deemed as such), maybe Adams has something up their sleeve that hasn't been announced. Hence, I called them.

True Forged Clubs are made with 1035 down to 1018 Carbon Steel, which is what Emperor Ari over at Scratch uses (May God Bless his soul). The rumor is that Adams is coming out in April with 2 new irons: The "CB1 and CB2".

Frankly, I don't know how they can improve on the A4s unless they flow forge them out of higher carbon 1035-1018 Steel. But the A4's are WONDERFUL Clubs-destined to be collectors. I just recently decided that I wanted a set in Satin, which is how this whole thing started with me. If the rumor about the quality of the CB1 and CB2 is true, I will hold off until I can get my hands on the set I like the most. (to be continued....) tvisme

Opinions of Cast vs Forged are plenty! Many articles/Tests show sound is the biggest "softness" impression.

I have hit plenty of Cast clubs that are superior to Forge in every respect!

I would put the A4 Tours(Satins) up against the retail A4's, and most other name brand forgings out there.

I was a forge guy over cast ( mostly S25c ) till these!
And now the PVD version.

There are pics of the cb1 & cb2 on a topic search it.

Hi guys,

Well, I must admit that is the Dumbest thing I have ever heard Adams do ("Cast Tour A4's versus Forged Retail A4's")....and then there is their calling the newer version A7's an upgrade to the forged A4's. What are they thinking?? In my sincere opinion Adams is at the top of the stack in the Golf Club industry today. They have garnered market share away from Taylormade, Titleist, Nike, Cobra and Ping. They are doing it right.....but I hope this move isn't "the chink" in their armor.
I was the guy who was in contact with the seller on Ebay about his A4 Tour Satins. He is a great guy-very honest and straight forward. But "WHY" would Adams intentionally make the retail A4's Forged (yes, I know 8620) and the TOUR A4 Satins Cast? Something is just plain wierd there. :russian_roulette:

The rumor is that Adams is coming out in April with 2 new irons: The "CB1 and CB2". I have a call into Chip Brewer in an attempt to find out about these two new clubsets, and to beg him to not turn Adams into another Taylormade ...we'll see if he responds. Maybe we can get him to kick us a deal on multiple orders for these new clubs-if they are as good as I am hoping they will be.

Frankly, I don't know how they can improve on the A4s unless they flow forge them out of TRUE 1035-1018 Carbon Steel. But the A4's are WONDERFUL Clubs. I just wanted them in Satin, which is how this whole thing started. But that doesn't mean I want to switch to cast clubs, because I just can't do that-I might as well go out and buy some A3's or A7's. But NOW, it the rumor is true, I will hold off until I can get my hands on either their new CB1 and CB2s...if I can find out what they are all about. Maybe some pics...? The real question is what is the difference in manufacturing between the "cast" and "forged" clubs, since it's the same material. I suppose the retail ones are stamped and the tour ones are poured into moulds, but why not do the same for both? The tour ones also have milled faces with the old grooves, so I would images they're very spinny. Also, the tour heads are .355 taper and the retail (chrome or satin) are .370.
