i'm intrigued by the redwood piper, does anyone have any experiences with it?

Redwood is a great line from Ping if you ask me, my first milled putter was the Redwood Anser and that was a great feeling putter for me. Responsive, crisp feel and great roll.

The Piper would be much the same. It's a good looking mallet and looks simplistic and comfortable enough from address to inspire confidence.

You could well buy that and spend the rest on golf balls or something. :partytime2:

What do you think about the Scotty Cameron Squareback and Fastback?

I've played with the Piper for 2 seasons now and it's an awesome putter. I'll tinker with other things but I won't get rid of this flatstick - I think it aligns as well as any of the huge moi mallets.

It's heavy though, and the weight is not adjustable. It doesn't do as well for me when the greens are slow in the winter. But on slick summer greens it's deadly.

For $350 I agree with some of the other posters to get something more affordable and use the rest for other gear. I've rolled the new Ping IWI's and they've got a nice feel. Same for the White Hot Tour #5 and Rossie II. Haven't rolled the squareback or fastback yet, but I imagine they will have a similar feel to the Redwood Piper but with adjustable weights.

I didn't even know of these two models until I started this thread but that Squareback looks really nice. The problem is I don't have a place to try 2/3's of these models that people have mentioned. I'm going to have to buy before I test drive any of them.....

I say go with the scotty cameron red x3 or x5. I also like the look of the rife abaco. I've never putted with the abaco but it looks nice. I've putted with rife putters before and they have great feel but I don't think any feel can beat a scotty. But, whatever putter you get, get a winn avs jumbo putter grip. I have one and it has helped tremendously. I hope this helped and GOOD LUCK!!!!

ok a couple last questions. no more i PROMISE. i found a place that had the selects (i was actually pretty dissapointed with the mallet styles, probably since I haven't owned one before) but i really liked the 2.7. They also had a redwood anser there too. I hit that and I liked that one as well. which one do you guys get out of those two?

For possible resale I would get the select. Don't get me wrong, the Ping is a great feeling stick too! I guess now it comes down to which one YOU prefer better(looks, feel, etc.).

Just pull the trigger on something...........LOL

I totally agree with that DooZ said. Camerons will always be better for resale, but unless you frequently change putters then you should just go for the one what you like more.

There's no point getting a putter with better resale value when you're not sinking putts....

Well here's the deal. Of course not knowing where you're located may drive the total cost up.

Visit the RIFE Putters V1 Studio. Spend up to an hour with one of our tour reps and get custom fit for any regular length putter. Walk out with your new RIFE and you'll have $50 left over as the total cost is $300.

If you're too far away from the Orlando area just visit your favorite golf retailer or PGA pro and you'll have enough left over for a round or two with your new flat stick.

Get a RIFE! RIFE is good!
