I will be attending the travelers championship in June and I'm looking attending the first two days and the practice round. Any tips that you guys have about attending a practice round at the travelers? Arrival time? Crowd size? What time do practice rounds start?

There are no set starting times on practice round days. Players can play whenever they want and the 1st tee is clear. Monday there is a small pro-am and the main pro-am on Wednesday will have assigned tee times. Seems like the course opens around 6:30-7am. They get a fairly large crowd but not so large yoy can't get around the course to follow groups.

First two days crowds will be smaller, and I think are the best days to go. There's plenty of parking up there walking distance to the course (large fields). Bring comfortable sneakers, spf 100 sunscreen and a hat. Might want to keep a change of clothes in car. It's an easy course to walk and spectate. Find a group of pairings you like, follow them. You go a little ahead, they come thru, you skip over to next tee, rinse and repeat. 15-18 are great holes to camp out at the end of the day and watch everyone finish up.

 

Forgive me random internet person, but these pro-tips are a must. Whatever you do, don't forget the cardinal rules of PGA TOUR events.

 

-Never, ever, neverever, ever ever wear golf shoes (but if you insist, you might as well say f*** it and suit up with full attire including glove, just remember that men's events are slacks only and check your sponsor contract regulations.

-Don't bring a rangefinder and don't call yardages.

-Don't be the baba boey mashed potato jerk

-If you're just walking along and see a ball, don't pick it up. If you you do score a ball, it's never a bad idea to give it to a kid. Also, let the kids get the autographs.

-While standing next to fellow spectators, try not to relate stories of your last muni hack fest with the shots of the pro's. We know you suck. We all suck, or we'd be on the other side of the ropes.

-Leave your cell in the car and live in the moment.
