Flat Cat Putter Grip

I bought the big boy. Probably should've bought the fat. I thought the sizes were reversed based on the names. However I really like the field. I will say the Inverted cone technology works wonders. It is yet to get stuck coming out of my bag unlike my super stroke.

Since golf pride bought Flat Cat I see them in golf galaxy now. I also like Rosemark but man the designs of these grips are ugly

Yea they are really ugly. I'm going to give one a shot if I end up not like my iomic absolute x but so far I'm a fan. To me flat cat and super stroke make some ugly grips.

Did you get the Solution or the standard? I have a SS Slim 3.0 but the diameter seems pretty much the same as the Big Boy? What are your thoughts on the grip? I have to get it to Spain somehow but 25€ shipping plus the putt cost seems ridiculous.

IMO the Flat Cat Solution is the best $50 I've ever spent on a golf product. I have the Standard on an Odyssey #7. It sets you up so square and that weight is perfect. Really smooths out your stroke.

Could not be happier with it and would highly recommend to anyone.

I'd given some thought to installing the Flat Cat Solution version. Upon further review I wonder how one would go about removing it if it didn't work out, IE the stainless steel collar at the bottom of the grip. Blow torch?

I recently won one of the FC Solution (Std size) grips on their Facebook contest. Yesterday was my first time on the putting green since installing it. I putt cross-hand (left hand low), and I think I'm really going to like this grip. I have it installed according to the FC directions (flat sides parallel with the face of the putter - i.e., 90* rotated from when Justin Rose has his installed). The extra weight on the bottom of the grip was very noticeable, but once I got used to it, I found myself rolling all putts within 10 feet much truer. Lag putting is going to take a bit more getting used to, but I was getting back to form after about 15 minutes of putts outside of 40 feet.

I had Edwin Watts put it on and it wasn’t square. Took it back and lined it up myself and was happy from there.

I love mine. I too don’t like the neon but since putting one on my putter I can def feel a difference in my game. My lag putting is way more consistent and my short make percentages are way up.

People gaming these, did you install it yourself? I'm super OCD when I install a SS on my putter, and the flat cat is even more imperative to have it on straight. I do think I trust myself more than the guy at the golf shop though.
. I had my local fitter put it on he uses a laser to make sure the grips are perfectly square wanted to make sure it was done right especially with the putter

I installed mine myself. After installing it, I just laid it on the counter in the kitchen using one finger to push the flat part of the grip down and then judged the face in relation to the the counter to get the face square with the flat side of the grip.

Then the rest was validating by getting in a putter stance, closing eyes, making a couple strokes, setting back to the start position, and open eyes to see if it looked square. Figure subconsciously wherever my hands/putter face are is where they’ll be when putting under pressure.

Has anyone seen the "Flat Cat Tak?" Looks like it is the same shape (without the weight cone) but a little more standard look. Black with a more toned down logo. It definitely has my attention but wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts.

I've got it on my putter right now. More of a rubber grip (thus slightly heavier) than the Standard Flat Cat. Definitely gives you more "feel" of the ball off the face whereas the standard Flat Cat much like superstroke hides it a bit.

What size did you go with? I haven't seen them anywhere locally so I'd be buying blind. I know is a very unique shape but any suggestions? I don't like anything bigger than a 2.0 Super Stroke, typically.

Shape is a bit different but 2.0 is probably between svelte and standard.

I went with standard.

Anyone with a slim or standard take some measurements for me, trying to see what size is closest to the P2 Aware I have on my putter.

I’ll try to remember tomorrow to take some measurements. There used to be a faq somewhere that listed all specs, but can’t find it anymore.

I’d say the standard is a superstroke 3.0 at its widest and a 2.0 at its thinnest.

The svelte is a 2.0 at its widest and slightly bigger than 1.0 at its thinnest.

Hope that helps

Svelte - 15/16" x 1 1/4"

Standard - 1 1/16" x 1 3/8"

Thanks, looks like my P2 Aware is right in the middle at .92" x 1.41". Wish these were in stores so I could feel them out :)

I have tried, and still have both... P2 grips have a different shaft alignment/orientation than FC grips. I like both, but prefer P2 because of the wrist alignment changes when using it vs. FC. When it comes to the FC grips, I prefer the same installation as Rose, as opposed to the recommended install of longer side facing the cup/parallel to face.

Now if I could just find somewhere to buy the black aware tour P2 grip

I have mainly used Pingman grips for 20 years. Saw the standard Fat Cat today and had to buy it. Had Pingman cut off my SC Delmar II TEI3 and put Fat Cat on. Eager to try it out in coming days. Frankly, its just weird enough that it might actually work. Playing around with putter in shop with same grip was impressive. Rolling to cup 8-9’ away, it had a very precise feel, regarding aiming, and control of the putter face. My only potential concern is what lag putts will be like with such a large grip absorbing vibrations (feedback) I am used to with slimmer grips. But short and medium range, I am very hopeful to say the least. The newer tak version is out I see, black color, and about 30% heavier rubber. That may appeal to many style wise, not liking bright green, but weight of clubhead may dictate final impression as that heavier tak grip will serve as a counterbalance of sorts.

I used the svelte model for about a week and it just didn't jive for me. I love the flat side concept, but the P2 is a much much better fit for me. Back to the Aware I went.
