Flat Cat Putter Grip

I used the svelte model for about a week and it just didn't jive for me. I love the flat side concept, but the P2 is a much much better fit for me. Back to the Aware I went.

I have the new Flat Cat, and it is MUCH better! I thought I liked the original but the new one is more of a rubber compound and has a tackier feel. Also looks great in black.

Do you think the Tak model offers more feedback? Its a much heavier, apparently denser, rubber compound. Was curious if it feels any different. I played round yesterday with my new Flat Cat standard, absolutely love it. Looking to put a few on other putters. I have a few SC TEI3’s and Yamadas I play with. I see this grip replacing my Pingmans.

These things are so individual, that I really can’t tell you what you could or should expect. I personally prefer the new black flat cat in every way over the original. Maybe you should just try one and see what you think.

I think the Tak does provide more feedback. I've got one on a Spider Tour and I prefer it to the original FlatCat mainly due to the feedback/sound difference. Like Mob said though, these things can be personal preference or fabrications in one's own mind.

Thanks man, will order one and try. Love the standard flat cat.

If it doesn't jive I recommend checking out the P2 Aware

Bumping. Thinking of buying one but I don't see an air vent to blow this on, so looks like solvent would need to be used. A $30 guess on whether or not I'll like it is kind of meh for me. Not seeing anybody on tour with it other than Rose I think? Anybody still gaming this years later?

I’ve been playing the Original Flatcat Svelte on my Toulon Columbus for over a month now, and love it... Try it out , you won’t be disappointed.

Was there a big adjustment period?? I feel like the shape is so odd, I worry one bad round and I'll be ditching it and on to the next one. I know with new swing changes etc, sometimes we get worse before we can improve. Same story?

I have the fat flat cat and love it. My right hand low just barely hold on to the grip. That is the hand that gets me in trouble typically.

Just saw a video of Justin rose talking about this grip.... He puts the flat cat wording toward the sky. Isn't that the wrong way??

He and Sean Foley use the grip that way. You can do whatever. I do it conventionally.

I’m still using it for two years now on a spider tour. I did switch from the og to the Tak. I have a tendency to pull short putts and this grip really accentuates keeping back of my left hand facing the target and not finishing the stroke to soon.

Reach out to me, I’ve got a couple laying around we can work on a deal.

As an FYI, I’ve blown on off many of them. Definitely not the easiest to do. There is a small hole to do this but in an awkward spot. On some I drilled a small whole in the conventional spot.

Like mentioned above I have used a Big Boy on my odyssey two ball RX. just bought a vault 2.0 Ketsch that has the ping PP62 grip which I assume is similar to a SS 3.0 size.

I am interested in the Tak from flat cat especially the look. It was the one thing i wasn’t crazy about on my two ball but it worked. The all black Tak would look loads better on my all black vault with black shaft.

I've seen it used both ways but flat cat facing sky always made most sense to me. However, looks like Lamkin intended it to be used flat cat facing sideways.

The intended way is the “Lamkin” is down the center with the Flat Cat on the sides, but I’ve seen a lot of people are installing then the opposite way. Mine is installed the intended way, and I really like it.

Yeah I think I remember people earlier in this thread saying how it's supposed to be similar to how a hockey stick is (short sides facing up and down) and how that made sense for holding in ones hand.

I'm fortunate enough right now where I'm about to get my hands on one, so hopefully I can blow on and off and try both ways.

Yeah I noticed the small hole on the top of the grip, and haven't figured out how to do it with air. It's awkward to say the least. I like your idea of drilling another hole.

Any more feedback on the solution grip? I use a pencil grip and can get yippy from time to time, so this could probably help me out

A kind WRXer is sending me 2 of them this week. Once I get them on and try them out, I will let you know. I tend to be conventional grip, bottom finger down the grip, but every now and then I will switch to pencil.

I got the white and yellow one installed on my putter today. Tried to blow it on and that wasn't happening... so I ended up just covering the masking tape with alcohol and the inside of the grip and literally muscling the thing down. Seems to be on there pretty snug and I putted on my carpet with it fine. I will say... this feels JUST like a hockey stick installed in the traditional way. I held it the other way like Rosey does it and it just felt odd.

Ended up using more of a hockey grip (hands split) and it really felt nice. Overlapping grip was kind of odd feeling but I felt at home using it more like a hockey stick. Will hopefully try out this week.
