Need Opinions on my WITB

Dear golfwrx members, I need some opinions on my club choices. Currently my setup is:

Club Loft

Titleist 913 D2 9.5

Taylormade V Steel 3 Wood 15

Adams Golf Blue Hybrid 19

Titleist 716 TMB 3 Iron 20

Titleist 714 AP1 4 Iron 23

Titleist 714 AP1 5 Iron 26

Titleist 714 AP1 6 Iron 29

Titleist 714 AP2 7 Iron 34

Titleist 714 AP2 8 Iron 38

Titleist 714 AP2 9 Iron 42

Titleist 714 AP2 Pitching Wedge 46

Ben Hogan Gap Wedge 52

Titleist Spin Milled Vokey (2009) 58

Background - I just bought myself a Titleist 816 H1 17* and am not too sure exactly what to do with it to be honest. I am Titleist fan boy and am trying to build a full bag. I have a $150 credit towards golf equipment and can't figure out what to buy. For the clubs I currently use I can't hit the 3 Wood or 3 Iron to save my life so I always tend to play my hybrid. I currently only really see 2 options:

Option 1 - replace the current hybrid with the 17* and bump up the loft to 18* for gapping purposes and maybe spend the extra credit on a wedge

Option 2 - drop the 17* to 16* and get rid of the 3 wood and try to use the 16* hybrid instead. Would need to buy another hybrid for the 19* spot in the bag seeing as I don't include the 3 iron for gapping purposes

What are your guys' thoughts?

EDIT - I use the 3 iron a couple of times per round seeing as the course I play has tree lined fairways so I don't really want to take it out.

Put the new hybrid to whichever loft gives you a nice flight and confidence over the ball. This will be your club to advance the ball as far as possible off the deck. Dump the 3 wood and 3 iron. At these lofts you don’t need to worry about gapping because the distance so dependent on quality of strike.

818 Hybrid set to 18 could replace the 15 and 19. Obviously you could put a 3 wood in the bag if you are playing a course that features some long par 5's. Really just drops you down 1 club with your approach, so wouldn't affect scoring much either way.

Pick up an SM7 52 and you have straight Titleist.

Since you can't hit it well take out the 3 iron. Play around with the other woods and go from there. Maybe the 3wd. will come around for you.

Adams 19 --> Titleist 17 H

TMB 3i --> Titleist 21 H

Get fit for a 3W. I never used to like a 3W but recently got fit and I'm just striping it now. it has become one of my favorite clubs in the bag.

As for now I think I'm just going to replace my Adams Hybrid with the Titleist one that is in the mail and go from there. I don't want to remove the 3 iron because I need it for tree trouble and I think I might give my 3 wood another chance. If I still can't hit it I might look into trying to use the new hybrid as a wood replacement.

My usual post in these threads: the advice to "take out clubs you can't hit" is terrible. what if you "can't hit" a 6 iron? What does "can't hit" mean? Like literally whiff? 20% success rate? 40%? 60%?

We build a bag by gapping correctly. You don't play 14 pitching wedges because you hit them all well. Go to an empty fairway late in the evening when nobody is there. Hit 20 balls with each club you're thinking about cutting i.e. the bottom of the bag. Find an arrangement that covers all yardages. Practice.

We don't take our 6 out of the bag because its harder to hit than a wedge and we don't take 3 wood, 3 iron etc... out because its harder to hit than a 6 iron.

Otherwise just bag 14 wedges and call it a day. You "can hit" every club!

Totally agree with this approach, and i don't have an issue with replacing 3 wood if you actually hit a club better than it, but stop saying "can't hit" *unless* you have an exact definition (20% or more away from target 50% of the time, etc...).

I think it depends and sorry if I missed it but is the 3 wood getting you to par 5s in two? If not maybe just replace the 3w with the 17* hybrid as a long approach club. I recently dropped my 3w in favor of a 5w since it's rare I am on the green on a par 5 in two... some I can reach and some I'm just left for right so I opted for something I can hit a little easier, and straighter. OR, keep it in the bag but theres nothing saying you HAVE to use it. Use the clubs that give you the best chance for a good NEXT shot or chance at a good score. I tried a 16* hybrid as a 3w replacement a while ago, it was ok, but the 5w is still easier to hit for me... Use what you are most comfortable with.
