Yes. Now, when I putt from the fairway, 25 feet from the front of the green, instead of trying to look stupid with my 58 degree wedge, do I count that towards my putt count?

It is not a putt however, from my perspective you can count it however you choose.

You are suggesting an element of intent? If I intend to play to the left rough off the tee and end up in the fairway, it's still a fairway hit.

 

Seems like a Fairway/GIR combo to me, but since I'm not sitting on the throne I'm not sure how much validity there is to that opinion. I'm contemplating weightier issues in the wee hours, like how is it I always wake up right after Kate Jackson says, "Come on in."

Most driveable par 4's have a "gap" of some sort between fairway and green (water, bunkers, rough, valley etc.), kinda like the gap between your Kate Jackson dreams and reality.
